Smart was doing an in home with Saban last night and is in Florida today.

Even if so, no way you hire someone before you actually have a sit down interview.
As early as it was "rumored" and where he is now, I don't believe that's happened yet.
He just left Florida recruiting a LB to visit a LB in GA, spent last night with Monty Adams, and will be in TTown for the official visitors.
No way he had time to do anything formal, which would throw a kink in hiring him...

Well only the crap AJC has said there was a hire...Tweet said there were 4 DCs to interview.
Smart is one of those so it will take some time.

I'm not sure why bama fans would be against this move... the defense will always be stellar under Saban, and it's an opportunity for Smart to show he can do something productive without Saban over his shoulder... assuming he really is the heir to the HC job.
Staff turnover could become an issue, but Saban has shown an ability to hire top-notch assistants throughout most of his career.
