I agree, There are a whole lot of Ds in the Senate from red states that don't want to have to make a vote on this...

Marco Rubio on O'Reilly the other night said it best. Something along the lines of "if you want to amend the 2nd amendment, just be honest and have the personal courage and have conviction in your beliefs." If it trully is your desire to ban certain weapons and ammo, and infringe on the 2nd amendment then say that to the American public and see where the chips fall. Pussies, the lot of them.

No suprise whatsoever. I also expect the White House to blame the Republican House ... then the media will report what the White House has said .. never questioning its validity. Per Saul Alinsky:
quote:
the organizer must begin the task of agitating: rubbing resentments, fanning hostilities, and searching out controversy.
Then:
quote:
RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
Understand Community Organizing, then you understand Obama

Democrat congressmen in the South will be very hesitant if they are up for re-election. The gun issue is enough to flip more than a few dems in the south.

The crux of the strategy is that you must never succeed in organizing the community, the progression would end.

One difference between today's Dems in Congress vs the Reps is, the Dems don't put bills up for votes unless they have the votes. This isn't because it's a waste of money and time (b/c clearly no one in Congress cares about that) but it's just stupid to leave yourself open to attacks when you're only making your base happy. Nothing to gain. Republicans pass bills they know will never pass the Senate like the Ryan budget or repeal of Obamacare. And for what purpose except to placate their base. It's interesting how both parties switched right about the time Clinton was elected. Republicans used to pay lip service to their far right and now they can't make a move without them. Democrats used to be beholden to the far left and now only pay lip service. And before anyone starts, if Dems actually were beholden to the far left, you'd see this bill pushed as well as repeal of DOMA. You'd have seen a far greater stimulus like Krugman advocated. You'd have seen the AG going after allegations of torture. Instead they do things like extend the Bush tax cuts (except for the top 2%) which they claimed led to the huge deficits.

i seriously doubt this. obama is a huge hawk in office and a peacemaker on the campaign trail only

which they claimed led to the huge deficits.
which is the great lie of the past 8 years, but that's another thread

Her absolute worst nightmare is being the swing vote in the Senate, and having to decide between serving her overlords or maintaining her place at the trough. (pig reference intended). Of course, in the interest of maintaining a senate majority, the dems will do everything in their power to allow her to cast a meaningless conservative vote.

So, you admit and have no problem that all the D's are worried about is reelection?

Um actually, they were never brought up to vote in the Senate. They at least did their best to try to repeal Obamacare. A bill that, only 18 days in, has proven to a) cause healthcare costs to increase and b) contains a multitude of bull shite earmarks that have nothing to do with healthcare, yet you still suck obama's dick as if this was the best bill ever enacted.

No chance this would pass anyways. Most of the freak out (on both sides) was media driven outrage.
