President Barack Obama’s remaining campaign apparatus will relaunch Sunday as a tax-exempt group to support his second term agenda, a senior Democrat familiar with the plans confirms to POLITICO.
The formation of the group will make Messina the de facto political director for Obama, and is an implicit rejection of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, an Obama outsider not close to the president, as the party’s operational leader.
But unlike a super PAC, the new nonprofit will be able to accept anonymous contributions. The nonprofit could voluntarily choose to release the names of donors — but such disclosure is not mandated by the Internal Revenue Service or the Federal Election Commission. There are no contribution caps on what donors are allowed to give to 501(c)4 groups.
Opponents of campaign finance reform say it’s another reversal by Obama — who has said repeatedly that he is against the amount of money sloshing around in politics.

I thought non-profits were still restricted in what political speech they could engage in.

I just read that article. Is anyone surprised that, in this day of rising taxes for everyone, BO creates a tax-exempt group to promote himself?!?!

Non-profits can support policy but not specific candidates or legislation, so they could support health care, gun policy, immigration reform that lines up with the views of Obama without directly suporting Obama, Democrats or specific legislation, even though you actually are.
The left and the right both do this "think-tanks".

Will this be instead of or in addition to the billion dollar taxpayer-funded propaganda machine being run out of the White House and the entire executive branch?
I think I know the answer....

Didn't see this reported on my local news this morning, but they did report Mrs. Obama has a new twitter account named FLOTUS and got a new hair-do with bangs.

Yeap, that came out yesterday, her 49th birthday. Ugh! No new hair style can improve the face or the lack of any style/class.
