Has anyone ever been? Did you attend any balls? Is it something you would recommend doing one time in your life(like Times Square NYE, or Mardi Gras in NOLA)?

No, but I definitely wouldn't want to go to this one for the current jerk-off in chief. Maybe for a president I actually respected.

For the sake of argument, let's say it was a candidate that you enthusiastically voted for.

still no chance, though I can't imagine ever being that excited about someone running for president If I was elected president I would cancel all of the balls and would just get inaugurated real fast in my office so as to not waste time and money. Then go back to sleep like a boss ala Coolidge

I think if maybe if I lived in reasonable driving distance than it would be an exciting thing to see first hand. It is a part of history.

Going out of your way to see something like this is crossing over into drone territory. The only way I would consider it is if it was nearby, convenient, and free.

Indirectly. Friend is an EOD tech and had to search for bombs. I wasn't anywhere around just in the city. Had a good time because we would use his credentials to park anywhere we wanted and have access to a lot of places without any hassle. We went to some club and parked right in front and they threatened to tow us. They have some cop calling for a tow truck for them and my friend shows some paper he has in the window. Cop tells the club nothing he can do and we can park there.

Went in '08 for the inauguration (complete shitshow) and balls and going to a ball this year. Won't be standing my skinny arse out there in the cold all day though.

I bet it would only be fun if you were one of the people on the inside, AKA big donor.

Yes, I very much agree! I want to be as far away from any such event as possible. Ugh!

No. I'm not going to a party for a guy i hired. I find the whole giant ceremony thing to be a giant farce. We aren't coronating a King. We are allowing a citizen to be the representative for our country. The president has too much power nowadays. And the more "celebrity" we give it, the more power he will seize.
