Our "finish" was anything but "elite".
Look up the word.

Well you are the one who just defined elite in your mind as a top three finish. Did we not finish in the top 3 in 2011? Or is that top 3 thing only applicable for you when LSU is not in the top 3?

You asked about our "finish".
We finshed in an embarrassing fashion, in case you've forgotten.
Our regular season, was unquestionably elite. The only undefeated team.
Becuase of our awful finish in 2011-12, I am reluctant to call us "elite", despite a top 3 finish.

Thats what I figured. In your mind a team that finishes in the top 3 is elite (which is what you said) except when its LSU. I figured you were one of those, just wanted to make sure.

SORRY the TEAM TRIED, But they were coached and prepared HORRIBLY. Miles was at TOTAL fault that night. And as for Clemson or FLA. I gotta put that Miles as well. The team was not ready for FLA. It wasn't that they didn't try.

I am sure the game plan for 1-9-12 was, "Hey, O-line! When the ball is snapped just keep backing up until the D-line reaches our QB".

And if you recall, it wasn't like we had much success on D either--an that was from the start.

Purple,
Reading comprehension problems?
Consider the meaning of the following
"... AT LEAST a top three finish".
Thanks

No you stupid frick. I just knew you wouldn't admit that LSU was an elite team in 2011 with a 13-1 record even though you said it would be a top 3 finish. Thanks for continuing to troll the LSU boards. Worthless POS.

If you don't think our 2011 season was elite, you'll never be satisfied. Period.
In 2011 LSU had its greatest SEC season , EVER.

it's true, such a shame bama got the mulligan. the lineup of giants that LSU slayed that year might've been unprecedented, but for many, 1 loss erased 13 wins.

LSU beat more ranked teams than any team since 1935

BCSNC is elite. Anything else is a loser and No body ever remembers the loser.

Considering the current state of our program, compared to the rest of the nation, what is considered an elite season?
One thing we know - it isn't what we put out there in 2012.

It's not the loss but the way we lost. The lack of a game plan. The fact that Miles quit on the team half way through the 3rd quarter. Not being able to cross the 50 yard line. The lack of in game and half time adjustments. All the 3 and outs. We did the same crap against Clemsen. We can't continue to leave our defense on the field for 40 minutes of every important game.

And thus dies the myth that CLM always learns from his mistakes and corrects them.

To get an A, you need to win 90% of more of your games.

For a 13-game season (which is a guarantee for LSU if they even win 6 games due to all the bowls), that means 11.7, so 12-1 will get you an A.

If you make it to the SECCG, that means 12.6, so you need to go 13-1 to get an A.

Anything less than an A is not elite. Period.

The 10-game standard as success is totally bogus and for shallow thinkers. A 10 win season for a team like LSU, means beating 5 or so inferior teams/programs that are a given, and then to win 5 out of the 8 competitive games on the schedule. That is ok, but certainly not special.

He didn't ask what it took to be an ELITE program. He asked what is considered an ELITE season. There is a difference.

I don't think "elite" + "season" go together in the context of CFB.

Pick a different adjective.

Programs are elite (or not).

In the typical CFB vernacular, elite is typically used referring to the perennial timeframe, not annual.

Elite being designated for a single season doesn't strike me as the best way to gauge perception of what a fanbase believes their team should measure up to. In my opinion, the only elite seasons in recent memory are 09' Bama, 04' USCheat, and 00' Miami.

On the other hand, I thoroughly believe that a program can be elite without accomplishing an elite season.

You can view anything that is being compared and is more than a few as elite.

You can easily view a single season, with 124 teams and choose those that had an elite season.

The definition of elite is not one, it is a small few or small group.

I basically want to know what teams have to do, not only be their own standards, but by a general consensus to have their season considered elite in the context of that single year.

If we define elite by winning your conference, finishing in the top ten and winning a BCS game, then those teams, this year are:

Bama
Stanford
Florida State

Simple as that.

I just want to know what type of parameters you can use. A top ten finish is one thing, but winning that conference title or a BCS game is another thing.
