I'm against Obama on the gun issue but the thread title is a fabrication. Here are Schieffer's exact words:
"Surely, finding Osama bin Laden; surely, passing civil rights legislation, as Lyndon Johnson was able to do; and before that, surely, defeating the Nazis, was a much more formidable task than taking on the gun lobby."

The key phrase is "much more formidable task". He's actually saying that passing gun control legislation DOES NOT compare to passing civil rights legislation, hunting down bin Laden or defeating the Nazis.

But he makes the comparison, I suppose it depends on the meaning of "is like",
but juxtaposing the difficulty of going agaisnt the NRA to the killing Osama Bin Laden, passing Civil Rights and defeating the Nazi's isn't without a desire to subtely frame the issue as one of good against evil.

The NRA is only interested in gun rights to continue the violent crime wave in the black community. They see easy access to guns as a means to continue the current African-American genocide.
