They would kill with the illegal weapons only until l they clear from the market. It would take time if the same ban placed on Fully automatic weapons were applied to semi automatic weapons over the years you would see the majority of murders shift from semi automatic weapons to single shot weapons. Even then the country would be a safer place. A criminal could no longer kill your entire family without taking the time to reload. Mass shootings would shift to a few dead before the killer was taken down.

Ending the drug trade would help. People don't use automatic weapons as much because they are much harder to get. They are so rare in this country because they are so heavily regulated. Lots of small scale gang shoot outs could be full on urban warfare without these laws.
Or are they used so infrequently because handguns are more effective for their intended purposes?

Not illegal full auto. There are always full auto seizures in drug raids. The black market is filled with AK Sears. The simple truth of the matter is that full auto weapons are not as fantastic as the Media and Hollywood make them out to be. Running an MP5 on full auto is not very effective or efficient. You don't know anything about the weapons you want to argue about. So, why are you doing this? In what way can the government protect me in my home? Disarming law abiding citizens does nothing to curb criminals from owning, possessing, using guns. There should be no debate on this due to its clarity. Police do not prevent crime as much as they investigate crime scenes.

This is not the point. The real battle is about law abiding people, i.e. citizens of this country, retaining the ability to make their own choices which are supported and backed by our constitution, not a government which is controlled by big money lobbyists making their choices for them.

How could one clear these from the market?

Do semi-automatic weapons constitute the majority of gun homicides today?

Oddly enough, assailants in current crimes are taken down in a timely manner in places where ownership of guns is allowed.

AMEN! Drones? Tanks? F-15s? Nukes? How do you kill a snake? A Revolt from civilians would destroy the Federal Government in days if not hours.

Agree. We have fewer trolls than people think. There are some really ignorant people insulated from the "real world' and lacking common sense out there.

Also, and as was pointed out in the video, police do not have a constitutional duty to protect someone.

Violent revolution is not even necessary to eliminate government. Non-cooperation(especially on part of the enforcement arm ie, police officers) can bring down the state within days.

Yea the second amendment is pretty much worthless these days. It was put in place to protect early Americans from invasion/the government. These days your gun won't do a single thing to protect you or your family from the government if it chose to attack. Guns don't really stand up to drones, tanks, F-15s, and nukes. The countries ban on fully automatic weapons has worked nearly flawlessly and saved thousands if not millions of lives. A gun in the home is 48 percent more likely to be used to kill a family member than an intruder... Educated estimates show that around 1000 death last year were criminals who were shot in self defense. Compare this to the 32k+ deaths that were a result of gun related suicides/homicides last year. We need new solutions to gun control. No denying it.

I've been saying that the key to ending a whole lot of violence is legalizing the growing and selling of marijuana in the USA. No way drug cartels could compete with American farmers and supermarkets. They would be completely defunded and powerless in a year. And we get some tax dollars off it. It's a liberal wet dream. You wanna win the war on drugs? Let American farmers win it for you. It won't take long at all.

get used to it, some people believe that a gun free america would be a better place. as long as there is this belief, theyll be after stronger gun laws. and theyll get them too.
