Anti-gun news anchor gets owned by gun advocate...

I didn't see this posted so far (at least in the last 15 pgs.) but it is entertaining. It was posted on the SEC Fanatics think tank.

Yea the second amendment is pretty much worthless these days. It was put in place to protect early Americans from invasion/the government. These days your gun won't do a single thing to protect you or your family from the government if it chose to attack. Guns don't really stand up to drones, tanks, F-15s, and nukes.

The countries ban on fully automatic weapons has worked nearly flawlessly and saved thousands if not millions of lives.

A gun in the home is 48 percent more likely to be used to kill a family member than an intruder...

Educated estimates show that around 1000 death last year were criminals who were shot in self defense. Compare this to the 32k+ deaths that were a result of gun related suicides/homicides last year.

We need new solutions to gun control. No denying it.

Never going to happen and you pollyannas will just have to deal with it. You can ban those spooky looking guns all you want and not make a dent in gun ownership or violent crime. Keep dreaming, but your fairy tales don't always come true.

Bull Crap.

Right, gun control is guaranteed to work. says the Drug War.

"WE" need to find a socialist country and move there. Your liberty, freedom, and choices will be taken from you. If you want gun control and socialism- NEWS FLASH - It already exists. Go there now. I will contribute for your ticket. The truth is nobody would take you because you bring nothing of value to an economy. Just like you bring nothing of value to this thread.

Statistics disagree with you. Would you own a fully automatic rifle if it was legal? ( they are so hard to get right now that less than 1% of gun homicides are committed with them) a flat out banning of the ownership and manufacture of semi automatic weapons would nearly clear the market of the guns within 50 years. Your grand kinds would be much safer in any open public forum if it ever happened.

Fully automatic weapons are not illegal in the United States.

They are highly regulated, but not illegal...

And people can be safer in a public forum right now carrying their own gun. When was the last time an active shooter/mass murderer decided to open fire at a gun show?

Really? Do you not understand that I can go purchase a fully automatic weapon tomorrow?

The reason less than 1% are committed with them is that they make up less than 1% of the total guns in this country. Pick the most common gun/calibers and they will be the leaders in gun violence.

NO, you are absolutely incorrect. If we cannot stop 1,000s of Hispanics a night from walking across our border (and we cannot) we will never deprive criminal elements of gun ownership.

Which ones? Oh, did you know that garlic keeps vampires away?

Nope.

Far less. It has little to do with availability. It has more to do with the nature of crime. Only a really stupid bastard would think the availability of auto weapons would cause more people to kill more people

You are one delusional dude.

My grand kinds will be living in a safer world since violent crime rates are trending down. The US is a very safe place for the vast majority of the population.

I would like to see this answered by a liberal.

I wonder how many people lived because those criminals weren't running around. No less than a 1:1 ratio, and most definitely more.

I'd be careful including suicides in this number. Knives, buildings, bridges, and pills are just as deadly to someone intent on ending their own life.

Why is it so hard to realize that the tool used to commit murder is nowhere near the main issue? If someone wants to kill someone, and their isn't a gun available, you think they just say "oh well" and move one?

In the 50 years you estimate it would take to get rid of guns, how many people do you think would be killed with guns in the hands of criminals in the meantime, partially due to the fact that the victim obeyed the law? I guess you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet, eh?

Are you under the impression that, were the United States government to engage in oppression on a scale comparable to former communist or fascist countries, it would be doing so with means of war?

The countries ban on fully automatic weapons has worked nearly flawlessly and saved thousands if not millions of lives.

Could you back this claim up?

How about we end the major source of violence - black markets, mostly in the drug trade.

When was the last time the opened at a church or a nursing home or a bake sale or a kite festival? I could go on forever. Just because a shooter may not have shot up a gun festival doesn't mean they wouldn't or couldn't. Most of them could care less about their lives and probably would have no problem loading up an AR15 at a gun show and taking out 10 or so people before being taken down.

Using your logic why would they shoot up schools? Most schools have a resource officer that carries a gun.

If they demonstrate such a lack of respect for the law - what keeps them from acquiring already existing weapons that you would see banned?

Ending the drug trade would help. People don't use automatic weapons as much because they are much harder to get. They are so rare in this country because they are so heavily regulated. Lots of small scale gang shoot outs could be full on urban warfare without these laws.

Because that takes power away from politicians. Plus, it makes too much sense.

So we shouldn't allow our government to have these things, if we can't.

Correct?
