Agreed. In fact, in many cases, they provide an infinite bang for the buck, as a lot of them are free.

UpToPar needs to take a look at a few of the idiot posts and my point is proven. Also, you (UpToPar) don't know me and you couldn't be more wrong.

I wish I was in town some to see some matches. Tennis at such a high level is fun to watch

Nobody said anything about tennis being an easy sport to play. Maybe it is you that needs to reread the posts.

I have attended a few tennis matches. Some things I know about LSU tennis: The facilities are slated for improvement/upgrade - which is sorely needed. Many of the players are foreign. LSU is mediocre, but competitive. Tennis is like this - it s very competitive and those who are on the tennis team can play at a very high level and challenge just about anyone on a given day. Somehow some players Nadal/Federer/Djocivic and/or programs (UGA) seem to be able to dominate the competition. That edge is all mental. I admire how those elites do it against such strong competition. LSU matches are fun to attend and if I lived in BR, I would attend regularly.

Most tards have no clue about tennis or how difficult it is to play at a high level. The quickness, conditioning, hand-eye demands and mental aspects of tennis are so far over their heads that their ignorance is exposed by their comments. Of all the sports, it is perhaps the most challenging sport, physically and mentally
i have always said tennis players are the best athletes from any sport. the athleticism and natural ability it takes to be good is unreal. my high school usually sent most of their top 6 to d-1 schools on full rides, won state every year, yada yada. one of my best friends went to michigan state on a full ride. he, at age 14 or so, was the #1 player in the south. i thought he practiced like crazy because it was a hell of a lot more than the rest of us practiced our sports, but he said he didn't play half as much as he needed to to maintain that type level of competitiveness. most the guys on our team were also starters on other sports teams and very very good at those sports too. they just seemed to be naturally good at anything they tried, regardless if they had ever played it before. /csb

Agree as well. I root as hard for women's basketball and softball as I do for the big 3 men's sports. The macho, knuckle-dragging wannabe crowd that posts on this board can't comprehend that, but all sports are pretty much equal to me as far as my level of interest. I find a Saturday afternoon at Tiger Park to be a fun and relaxing way to get outside and enjoy myself.

Attending LSU tennis matches is exactly quite enjoyable. You can heckle the opposing players (they are literally 20ft away from the fans) and most give u a response back. LSU tennis match + large redneck saw = pretty fun afternoon!

that and there is usually free pizza if you're there early enough. I know they lost Skupski, he was usually on court 2, but occasionally Brown put him on 1. I think Jeff Brown is a good coach and once the new facilities are built, he'll have the program in a very good position

Hell, when I graduated from LSU in '72, baseball was considered a minor sport. Back then the baseball team was lucky to have one hundred fans at The Box. Basketball had a good turnout due to "The Pistol". After Pete left, basketball wasn't worth a crap until Brown got hired. Football was the only sport that the students and fans gave a crap abou. As a graduate of LSU, I was always pissed at how both of our track achieved success but were never recognized until the baseball team got recognized. Pat Henry did the right thing and left.t

LSU alum, your as usual right on..I like you enjoy the "Minor sports" and know how exciting and inexpensive they are..love football, but enjoy other sports too..having said this I get frustrated (very) that many LSU sports are medicore at best and IF we have a team we shud at least try and field a team that can compete for sec titles every 5-7 years....and in sme we do not...tennis needs better facilities...but also need better players...
