NO. He can't. Certainly not at this point. He's way too slow and would be a serious liability on defense in ANY league. That being said, I love his story and really want to see him do well when he's in there.

re: Andrew Del Piero can definitely play pro

A scout's first take on ADP will be:
At 7'3 with no offensive game he has to protect the rim and rebound consistently, which he does not do. If he wants to make a living playing basketball he needs to develop an intense passion for the game and dedicate himself to building his body and developing his skills. That is easier said than done.

If ADP grew up in a Euro country with a strong developmental system he would have been drilled on footwork and developing his offensive skills from the day someone noticed his height to age ratio was off the charts.

There are lots of 6'10 to 7'2 guys in Europe with far better offensive games than we see here in college players. However in the NBA the physical demands often chew those guys up and wash them out.

The NBA is a no longer a big man's league and a space eating guy like mark eaton has very little value in today's nba. If you can't guard the pick and roll and you cant rebound consistently then you can't play in today's NBA.

I think it's 100% no brainer that ADP WILL play Euro professionally.

I don't understand why people think he has no offense. He has very quickly gotten a few post moves that will start to fall very soon. They look fluid and makable.

While people say he tires too easy, he played 33 minutes on Saturday, most on the team. He is working on endourance. A team will take him, not for what he is, but what he could become.

With some footwork training and more practice, ADP could be a very capable big man in Europe where gameplay is slower and more half court oriented.

I thought "Garrett Temple is the next John Havlicek" was the most ridiculous basketball claim I ever read on this board.

"Andrew Del Piero could make it in the NBA" now takes the cake.

Europe? Yes. But saying a kid can play in Europe is such a blanket statement, because there are hundreds of European leagues, ranging from feeder-leagues into the NBA to semi-pro bull shite.

Since there are less than a handful of decent big men in college basketball I would not put much stock in what ADP does well right now, if I am a scout

As a scout, All I would care about is his frame (which is a gift), his work ethic/desire (which remains to be seen over the long haul), and what he does poorly (lateral movement, holding his ground around the rim and finishing plays) that can be coached up

He will get a chance to develop somewhere and then it is up to him

I don't think that Del Piero ever makes it in the NBA, but I think he can play at a high level in Europe playing ball.

I'll send you $20 cash if he averages more than 6 ppg in any professional league.

Gets out hustled by 9 guys on the court. No ups. Slow. Not very good at where the ball will be. Id say he has a better average of being in the next TSO

Man, lot of hate here for someone who was a friend of mine in the school of music. If I know one thing about him, it's that he works his arse off. We're not talking about JJ9 here...totally different person. If DP has improved the way he has after one year, the sky is the limit for him
