Actually, no.

Still no rebuttal. I guess you just know you are wrong.

You may think it's cute to just spew nonsense then pretend it's real, but it really just makes you subtracts from the good points you do make.

I certainly wish you'd take talking about the Hornets a little more seriously and take a few opportunities to learn about the team rather than just hold to ideas that are outdated or unsupported.

You know how ironic it is that you keep bringing up ad hominem???

I made my point, you made it personal. But of course, you don't see it that way. I'll let the court of public opinion make the final verdict (you can campaign if it makes you feel better). It was fun forcing you into a 100-page meltdown last time, but I'm sure it will be more tiring the second time.

With that said, I bid you sir a fond adieu.

Didn't make it personal, and I didn't have to edit attacks out.

You, sir, are the one that attacked me because you could not attack the facts presented.

I really do hope you bid adieu to the personal stuff and get back to the topic: Rivers.

There was no meltdown, another fiction you are making up, I just kept pressing to you make a point, which you never made.

And this is not one either. It's simply asking you to make a point while rebutting the fictions you put out there.

As far as the court of public opinion is concerned, I really don't care, but then again, that's likely why I get read.

Why, what's that got to do with Austin Rivers?

Or are you here to talk about me? In that case, good for you that I'm here.

Rivers has a good deal to learn about how to be an NBA player, on and off the court.

I think Monty wants Austin near him so he can get all the other kinds of coaching that line outside the X's and O's

I think seeing minutes in the D League as a pg would help him, but I also can buy the idea that Monty wants to keep him close and that he might not take well to a "demotion" to Grand Rapids or wherever

this is certainly encouraging

This is fatherly concern speaking. Monty Williams, the close family friend who has known Austin since he was 3 years old, when Williams and Doc were San Antonio teammates, has a similar coaching worry. What strikes the Hornets coach is the surprising difference between father and son. “His dad has played more golf than I thought humanly possible,” said Williams. “Austin does nothing else but basketball. I’m trying to get him to pick something up.” So Williams has taken Austin fishing. Maybe the rookie can learn that it’s OK to downshift occasionally.

There's good stuff there and in other articles. It really seems like they seem something in Austin that is worth the trouble and pain.

People can point to Monty's relationship affecting how many resources he's getting, but it was Dell who had more of a say about getting him on this team. Monty's `thing' was supposed to be developing young players. We've seen some success on this front, Monty's contract was extended, and he's been praised in a number of NBA circles. I'm going to trust Monty on this one. Not everything is going to work out. I'm not going take trust away until I see a pattern develop. At that point, of course, it's `too late', but I'm ok with that.

Agreed. Monty has done very good work with the young players he's had. Aminu, Lopez, Vasquez, Belinelli, Smith are all guys that have improved under Monty.

No way they extended Monty thinking he has to be in the playoffs this year or even next year with this roster.

He needs to at least be above .500 next season, IMO

Assuming the cap situation ends up as good as we assume it to be and Dell can turn that space into some talent, I think that is a fair mark.

Depending on what we see out of Davis and others this year, I might suggest a playoff appearance as the mark to avoid disappointment. I in no way to expect that to mean anything but a first-round bounce, but I may set my personal bar that high.

We'll see where they end up this season. If they can get to 30+ wins, I am with you.

How would you play it/who would you target?

re: Austin Rivers: 3 minutes, 0 points, 0 assists, 2 turnovers

Eh, not sure, really. I want to see how Gordon does though the season.

The young vet route makes things harder to pinpoint.

For instance, this season Dell picked up 3 RFA: Gordon (ours), Lopez, and Anderson. The latter two have outplayed what people expected (questions about a Howardless Anderson abounded).

That's not really a plan I'd come up with, you know? Anderson was certainly a name of sorts, but Lopez wasn't getting many sniffs. Still, that's not what someone would expect. Plus, he got them via trade.

Teague fits the bill, but I don't see how Atlanta wouldn't match, so a trade would have to be there. Toney Douglas perhaps could be had given where Houston has chosen to spend their money. Douglas would be easier to get.

Brandon Jennings would fall into the higher dollar category. Perhaps Tyreke Evans. I'm not a believer in Tyreke at this point, but that doesn't mean Dell and Monty feel the same way.

As far as prying away a small forward type . . . I gotta think. This seems like a tall order. A strong corps of guards would lessen the burden on a SF, lowering the threshold needed to hold down the fort.

I also think we're not really seeing what the market is since we don't know how teams will react to the new CBA rules taking hold.

Your thoughts?

I like him, but I think houston wouldn't give him up. they're trying to build a core team to improve also and chandler parsons is a building block imo.

I don't see a clear way to get him, so I haven't thought too much about him.

He's not particularly strong in any aspect, but a solid gut on a good contract, if young.

How'd you propose to get him?

...it wouldn't be easy for us to get him from the rockets...thought i saw him on an upcoming free agents list this morning, but that doesn't make sense.

wouldn't wanna give up as much as it would cost, but i think he could be a good fit in a perfect world

Man, with the right trade, who knows?

I just don't see a straight up swap.

Houston has some figuring to do, and they'll be shedding talent, not because the pieces are bad, but because they can't just wait for all those guys to mature (youngest team in the NBA; we're next). They'll need to get some good pieces, including good backups, in the coming season or so. We may have something they want. They really don't have albatross contracts, so we can't `buy' talent via absorbing bad contracts from them.

I think they have some soul-searching to do, though.

Also, they need to sort out the Royce White thing, which will loosen their on SF's, though it may be White.

re: Austin Rivers: 3 minutes, 0 points, 0 assists, 2 turnovers

looks like their only proven frontcourt player is Asik...I think they have high hopes for Motiejunas, but they will be probably be interested in adding a proven PF and improving the Lin situation.

I don't think we have things that they want, unless we're willing to part with Anderson or Davis (not happening). They'd probably also like Vasquez over Lin for cheaper.

I don't think the Hornets will look to add front court players. Davis needs to be playing 35 minutes next season, imo...Anderson plays 32 MPG, so that leaves 30 minutes for Lopez and Smith to share. We couldn't add an Al Jefferson or Josh Smith and ask them to play less than 30 MPG...I don't think Anderson works at SF, and i think Lopez has proven to be a solid 3rd big. Still think Davis will be full time starting center eventually.

...just some random thoughts
