I'm no Feinstein fan when it comes to guns, but that video was dishonestly edited. Feinstein was referring to "assault rifles", whatever that means, not all guns.

Doc, even if she was, who is she to call for banning them? She is supposed to be a "public servant" and yet she has all kinds of protection by people we pay who carry such weapons to guard her. Of course, like most laws, they are written for us follow while she and her fellow "public servants" do not abide by such laws.

Guys just give in. We need to be more like Europe. Things are great there, can't you see. There is no violence, terrorist don't hate them and never strike there, no one starves, the economy is great, there has been no record of tyranny there, no one gets sick, the streets are paved with gold, there is a wall of jasper surrounding the continent with gates of pearl... It is inevitable, we must join in their rise to utopian status.

My point is that the person who posted that youtube video is misleading folks on Feinstein's position. Keep in mind that I abhor her real position, so it's not necessary for anyone to distort her position for me to oppose her.

I, at times, actually like Feinstein. She often takes positions I respect and does so eloquently and stately. But, when she's off, she's wacko. Her call for a ban is a highly hypocritical stance for her to take, whether she's talking about assault weapons or not, when she's got personal protection carrying what she wants to deprive others of.

As long as her body guards aren't carrying any of the weapons that she wants banned, I don't see what's hypocritical about her stance.

I'm not positive, but I have read that is the case. Besides, isn't her position basically that only special circumstances deserve certain armaments, hers being one of those circumstances? That's not the way "rights" are divvied up, are they? To only the special people? What is she willing to deprive her bodyguards of carrying in the name of her defense?

They will not be because they are government workers employed to protect her and are given exemption because she is a "representative of the nation."

Simple, I can't afford bodyguards so I will have to counter this level of protection that one gets with bodyguards with the purchase of one of the weapons she wishes to ban!
Why can only the rich people get the best protection?

She says terrorism on the political right and left in this country has gotten more severe over the past 20 years. Do you agree with that assessment? Can't say I agree, at first thought. The ELF and OWS/WTO protests are the only ones to get politically violent that I can think of in recent years (all leftists, by the way).

I'm not sure what you're talking about. The only member of Congress that gets round-the-clock Secret Service protection is the Speaker of the House. As far as I know, whatever protection Feinstein gets is on her own dime, not the taxpayers' dime.

I don't know what ELF is and OWS did not engage in terrorism. Have you forgotten about Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph?

"The special people" they can afford bodyguards, why shouldn't those who can't afford bodyguards not be allowed to protect themselves with the weapons she wants to ban. In this sense she is " a special person".
