I don't believe we are close at the moment, to door to door confiscation. However most gun rights enthusiasts are taking the long view and using observations of what happened to gun owners in UK and Australia to form their opinions. It is the creeping approach that people are guarding against, and with good reason IMO based on history.
What you should remember is that many gun enthusiasts hold the ability to own guns as sacred, and have always known that there are elements in society who want to eliminate that ownership. Think of something that you hold dear, and now imagine that during your entire life some people in this country wanted to take that thing away from you. Would you agree to small steps the curtail that something knowing that it could eventually be used to take it away from you?

That's all fine and good I guess but you really make it difficult to take you seriously and to have a real and open discussion about the issue when so many of you go to this immediately. I mean i don't even disagree with some of the points y'all make but damn it's tough to side with someone who comes off like a lunatic you know?

It sets a precedent. The British banned all guns, and now there is a huge campaign there to ban knives......knives.

I haven't seen any lunatics on here, but I don't follow all threads. I assume you aren't talking about me specifically.
The NRA met with Biden last week. My understanding is that school safety was not even discussed at the meeting. What side doesn't want to have an open discussion? Have you heard anyone from the administration mention anything other than implementing gun control measures, almost all of which would have done nothing to prevent the crime at Sandy Hook? Has Biden ever mentioned armed guards at schools or something similar as a solution?

He needs to only be worried about himself having a gun and what he decides to watch. Of course, he wants the government more involved in our lives to dictate how we should live, wants the government to limit the rights we have because he doesn't like those rights. I think anyone that calls for such should be put in jail for using the first amendment right calling for my second amendment right controlled to be controlled by the government. How can anyone believe that they should have a first amendment right unencumbered when calling for limiting the second amendment right that is most important to guarantee the first amendment rights is beyond me but he's a sheep that ignores history, which repeats itself.
