| Do they make front door locks that are keyed on both sides? (Posted on 1/12/13 at 2:31 pm)
I need one with the vertical handle and the deadbolt needs to be keyed on both sides. Every one of the verticle handles at Home Depot are sold in a package with the deadbolt keyed on the outside only.

In the sets with the vertical handle they are only keyed on the outside.

The only advantage I see I'd someone can't bust out the door window and unlock the deadbolt to get in

Hmm. We have this too. But we leave the key in it 100% of the time. Dumb?

meh, if someone wants to get into your house they'll get into your house. Locks do keep the lazy criminals away though.

Go to a place specializing in door hardware, not a big box place. They only carry mass quality grade, not a full range and not better quality.

I tell you like I tell all my customers. Double cylinder locks will not stop someone from breaking in your home. It will stop a person(especially a child) from getting out in an emergency.

I think it may be against code. People ten to get burned up not being able to get out when the house is on fire.

I believe the double keys are against code most places, so the lock kits may not contain them. But you can purchase double keys independently and have them re-keyed. I have double key locks on all exterior doors that have glass panels. For safety, I have a separate key made for each lock. As long as we're home, the key stays in the lock. I put cup hooks in the door trim, out of sight, where we hang the key when were leaving the house. It also means that's where the key is if we come home and enter through the garage and forget the put the key back in the lock. ETA: May be nerdy, but I also have a small wrecking bar near at least one window in every room and chain ladders under the windows in the upstairs bedrooms.
