| A glimpse into the future of Obamacare death panels... (Posted on 1/11/13 at 9:52 am)
quote:
"The city hospitals we control, so…we’re going to do it" - Bloomberg
Today it's about only restricting access to compassionate pain killer care for the poor. Democrats always trying to control and restrict the poor. LINK And for dramatic effect, never forget that restrictions on things like keeping your car cool in the summer never apply to Democrat Elites...

You make an excellent point, this move would only harm not just the poor but all classes of people who have no health insurance because they don't have a job. I read enough of the article to see that Bloomberg is bat shite crazy in control. There are frequent guests of the ER that go once a month to get their oxycodone fix to take or sell. Why not utilize basic common sense and stop these people from doing this by giving them placebos or an Rx of 800 mg. Motrin? Why make all suffer? It is a death panel of pick and chose. Bloomberg is rich he hasn't a clue nor cares about anything but his agenda, which is pure communism. This is why so many New Yorkers are moving to the Carolina's and other states, to escape the communism.

As they should.. We need "death panels" as we absolutely can't keep cost down with emerging and improving technology until we let people go when near the end.

So we should line up people in pain for some ailment against a wall and shoot them or a gas chamber?

Can you define this for me? Will the definition be the same if your name is Michael Bloomberg or Jane Crackhoe?

Its not really that hard.. The Government(medicare) should put certain criteria down on paper of what they will pay for under certain diagnosis. If the treatment is outside of that, then the individual (usually a family member because the person is incapacitated) can pay for the treatment. This doesnt involve anything other than letting people die a natural death as has happened for eons.

Define "near" and how do you know when "near" gets here?

Okay then have fun dying of cancer with no hospice or pain meds. Idiotic. Or do you believe only certain people that are not like yourself should only be made to suffer?

Where did I say that? Of course basic dignified care would be available at near death. You claim to be a Conservative? concerned with the budget, deficit? If yes, tell me how we are going to keep paying for a program that will only continue to rise in cost as more technology comes online, keeping people alive when normally dead?

If we are denying basic dignified care to young people in the ER's, what makes you think we will extend basic dignified care to end of lifers? This thread, and that article, is specifically about Bloomberg denying pain medicine / compassionate care to poor people who go to ERs at city owned hospitals. Bloomberg said specifically "we control" the hospital.

And you titled it with Death Panels.. I read the article earlier.. If the Hospital is city controlled with costs and risks associated then they can do what they feel is best for the long term viability of the Hospital. In this particular incident, I believe he's overreaching as usual, attempting to solve a problem at the point of distribution rather than curing the problem. He has a history of this and its not surprising.

What's idiotic about it? Golden rule. Who has the gold makes the rules. Don't like it? Prepare to pay for it yourself. This is why dependence is so ugly. You cede control over your own destiny. That's the unseen cost. Why anyone would make that choice, I'll never understand. But we (as a dependence-seeking society) are making that choice more and more. See the first Tuesday in November for evidence.

If they need a heart transplant and one isn't available. An alcoholic or druggie that has burned out their liver and one isn't available. If I were in charge, the second over dose or attempted suicide would be an indication that "the end is near". There are many people that would like to pass on to eternity but the family won't turn loose and therefore keep them on life support.

The problem is the people who look at those who can afford to put enough financial resources aside, and declare it "unfair" that they don't have the same opportunities that such forethought provides. Time to tax the top percent again!

We need doctor death panels. Obamacare didn't create them, but we need them to control costs. Sorry, but some families just don't know when to pull the plug. And some doctors won't make them, even when they can.
