European countries also have adapted a lot of the rights I listed in the OP

Uh, look at europe. It is in a financial crisis. And they really haven't adopted many of your ideas.

Your ideas would be destruction to any country.

Command economies have worked so wonderfully in the past.

If you are, what would the tax rate be on the few people who actually work. Why would someone work when they are getting all those things for free? So, I am totally serious when I ask you what would you really like to see pass in the real world.

People would work because they WANT TO, not because they need the income to live. Work should be a public service, not a necessity to live.

Our government provides for all citizens, than the citizens are allowed to be free to do as they choose.

Believe it or not there would be some citizens who choose to work various jobs and help the society as a whole instead of doing it for personal gain.

Under these silly proposals I'm pretty much getting everything for free, why would I need or want a job.

So you think that hate speech has a place in the 21st century?

I happen to believe that all speech has a place in the 21st century. Trying to quash an idea doesn't work. The way to get rid of hate speech is to let them talk and then prove to the people that the hate speech is wrong.

I don't understand why people don't understand this basic idea...

oh good fricking God.

Then what is the definition of hate speech? Something YOU perceive as hateful?

Why do they have such higher standards of life and happier citizens?

We had that once upon a time.....

It lead directly to the Bill of Rights we have today! Thank you very much, but we'll keep what we have had for the past 236 years....

How could one measure contribution towards society without a coherent price structure?

That's because the power at the top corrupted it and it was not run well because of it

Our government would have checks and balances against such abuse and would run it right

So you think in today's time it should be perfectly legal and acceptable to go up to a gay couple sitting on a park bench and call them flaming ****s?

Yep. I think it would be impolite.

quote:

Or go up to a Hispanic and call them an illegal immigrant who needs to go back to their country?

Again, nothing wrong with this. However, you will not have many friends being a rude moron.

quote:

Or go up to a black family and call them the n word?

Let me put it to you this way. Do you think you can stop hate speech by outlawing it? No, you cannot. The way to stop it is to prove in the open that it is wrong.

Maybe someone just wants to provide health care to people out of his heart and generosity instead of doing it to put food on the table

Maybe there are people out there who will build and fix electrical lines because they want to help people, not line their pockets

Maybe there are people out there who want to build homes, out of goodwill and not to provide for their family

Get the idea?

I know you be trollin', but this is a useful thought exercise.

What checks and balances would exist to prevent corruption at the 'top'? (Which, by the way, was not the primary fault with command economies, but let's stick with it for now).

The idea is that you don't have to work, but you work out of goodwill toward society as a whole rather than having to work to live.

No, because it denies the fundamental reasons of why humans act.

As long as we have the right people in power and running things.

If we have some greedy banker bastard in power running things, there will be greed, corruption and it won't work.

But if we have someone who is an enlightened progressive who knows what is best for the greater good rather than themselves, it will work.
