| What we need is a new Bill of Rights. (Posted on 1/10/13 at 8:20 pm)
Although I think the constitution is outdated, getting rid of it is not the solution The solution is a second bill of rights to annex to our constitution. FDR had the right idea when he was president and almost got it passed. But here is what I call "The Bill of Rights for the 21st Century" 1. All citizens shall not be discriminated against in any way, public or private, based on gender, race, religion, nationality, country of birth, or sexual orientation. 2. No citizen shall have their right to free speech protected when the speech is meant to cause harm, hate, divisiveness, or discouragement toward another citizen, politician, or group. 3. No citizen shall be subject to any religious oriented event, display, tradiition, or object. All religious activity must take place within government specified locations or the home, as not to expose others to it. Religion shall have no place in public places. 4. No citizen shall be allowed to carry, possess, or distribute a firearm or any firearm related paraphenelia unless they are authorized by the U.S. Government to do so. Zero exceptions. 5. Any human being who sets foot in the United States shall not be persecuted due to their origin or the fact they are not a U.S. Citizen. They shall be welcomed and encouraged to assimilate into our society. Any human who has been here for 30 days shall be granted automatic citizenship and full rights & benefits that apply to a U.S. citizen. 6. All citizens are guaranteed the right to access to the highest quality healthcare in the country at no cost. Health care is a human right. 7. Because it is necessary to eat and drink to live, all citizens are guaranteed the right to quality, delicious, and nutritious food and water at no cost. 8. No citizen shall be without a home and out on the streets. All citizens are guaranteed the right to a quality, safe, and spacious home to dwell in. 9. No citizen shall be without clothing. All citizens are guaranteed the right to quality and durable clothing to wear. 10. Because internet and cell phones are extremely important technologies in the modern era, all citizens are guaranteed a cellular phone, cellular phone service and internet access at no cost. 11. All citizens shall be able to work if they choose. Therefore, all citizens are guaranteed the right to a decent, well paying job with reasonable hours and duties. Also, all workers are allowed to unionize without any hassle. Businesses that do not comply will be shut down. 12. For a happy society, the people must be happy. Therefore all citizens are guaranteed the right to 5 weeks government-paid vacation. 13. All women are guaranteed access to pregnancy termination and birth control at no cost. Also, women are allowed to terminate their pregnancy up to the time of birth without any hassle. 14. Any citizen shall be allowed to marry whomever they want, regardless of sexual orientation. 15. Getting around is important in today's sprawling geographic grid. Therefore all citizens are guaranteed the right to safe, fast, and reliable transportation at no cost. 16. All citizens are guaranteed the right to a safe and stable planet and clean air. Therefore businesses are not allowed to pollute and every vehicle, business, and other things that may pollute are air are subject to strict emission standards to keep us safe from climate change. These 16 rights shall be annexed into the constitution and apply retroactively among ratification.

So you think in today's time it should be perfectly legal and acceptable to go up to a gay couple sitting on a park bench and call them flaming ****s? Or go up to a Hispanic and call them an illegal immigrant who needs to go back to their country? Or go up to a black family and call them the n word?

Sure. Just because something is allowed does not mean that it should be done.

The one in bold is the only one I took seriously. All this other shirt is redunk. This whole "at no cost" is a huge joke as well. It cost something alright.

Britain has the right idea to criminalize it. European countries also have adapted a lot of the rights I listed in the OP. Hence why they have a better quality of life.

Are you high? You can speak poorly about the government? WTF are you talking about? That is one of the reasons for the right of free speech.
quote:

A bit way over the top. Not the way the constitution wanted it.

If you amend the constitution then you can get your wish.

You are definitely a moron. Well, there is no reason for Mexico to have any prisons. Just send them all to the US. Then they become our problem.

6. All citizens are guaranteed the right to access to the highest quality healthcare in the country at no cost. Health care is a human right
Just not obtainable. This is not realistic. Sorry.

7. Because it is necessary to eat and drink to live, all citizens are guaranteed the right to quality, delicious, and nutritious food and water at no cost.
I think you must be drunk now.

Even the drug users who shite on the homes they have and destroy them? I don't understand what this is. I am a bit left of center, but this is absolute drivel. There is no way any country could function this way.
quote:
10. Because internet and cell phones are extremely important technologies in the modern era, all citizens are guaranteed a cellular phone, cellular phone service and internet access at no cost.
Why do you feel they are important? And is not internet access available at the library? Cell phone? Seriously? You know, I just stopped quoting this. I have a question. Are you serious about this? If you are, what would the tax rate be on the few people who actually work. Why would someone work when they are getting all those things for free? So, I am totally serious when I ask you what would you really like to see pass in the real world.

Currency is backed by faith. If people have faith that the U.S. government is the ultimate authority when it comes to issuing and distributing currency, than there are no limits on spending that the U.S. government can not meet. Plus our greedy businesses and banks could chip in too.
