Love it in theory, though I'd need more information on where he was going to raise taxes to make it "neutral".

I know one of the big ways Texas gets away with this is by having much higher property tax. I wouldn't be opposed to similar measures taken here.

I would expect a huge revenue boost over what is currently collected from personal income tax.

The work that I put in paid for my residency. The minimal wage that I earned versus the amount of hours spent caring for our citizens favors our State. The bills that I generated in training pays for itself. You are welcome.

Imagine how much more it would cost without government funding.

Y'all realize that in order to do this, sales taxes will go up, cigarette and alcohol taxes will have to go up; property taxes will have to go WAY up; tuition at public universities will probably double overnight; etc. road construction and maintenance will become non-existent; How would we pay for prisons, guards, enforcement of drug laws, etc. I could go on. But of course, on the bright side, tens of thousands of poor people (mostly children, mostly minority) would die every year because of the disappearance of what is left of public healthcare facilities.

Does the municipality then pay the State? How the hell does that work? Do you have a state property tax AND a local property tax?

LA has one of the lowest property tax rates in the country. Raising sales tax to 7%, meaning it would be what, 11 or 12, is pretty significant. I'd never buy a car in Louisiana or any other major purchase again. Maybe it balances out.

All of that is consumption based. Don't want to pay high taxes? Don't buy that shite. Easy.

If it can be done in a revenue neutral manner, then none of that crap you mentioned should have to take a hit.

I'd rather go a different route and eliminate corporate taxes. Businesses would absolutely flock to LA, and 10 years from now the state would be a much better place to live.
