| What are the projected cap and lux tax figures for next year? (Posted on 1/10/13 at 2:18 pm)
Assuming we pick up the options on Lopez and Darius Miller (I really don't see us renewing Roberts and Thomas), that would put our spending for next season at $40,865,965. This year, the salary cap is set at $58,044,000 and the lux tax is $70,307,000. Does anybody know if that number is projected to rise, fall,or stay the same next season? I'm just trying to get a rough number in my head of how much money we will have free next year.

No one knows yet but the expectation is a slight bump of the cap to around $60 million and I'd assume a similar bump to the tax threshold.

I think I remember reading that is projected to stay EXACTLY the same. No change whatsoever. Edit: I could be wrong based on TigerinATL's thoughts but I just found one blurb that said it was staying the same from an unreliable place.

The first 2 years of the CBA it was set to stay exactly the same. Next year is the first year it will be pegged to BRI and the expectations are a slight rise.

I think Thomas has a better chance of sticking than Miller. Miller had 4 years in college to grow his game and still can't find the court.

So it is safe to assume we will have atleast $18M to work with?

You have to add minimum roster holds to the $40 million to get the roster up to 12 and the minimum is around $490k IIRC so basically add $2 million to your figure. So if the cap goes up $2 million or so then the Hornets would have about $18 million in cap space.
