didnt know where to post this but thought the F&D board is well traveled enough to answer
company is having a conference in vegas the monday after our anniversary so i was thinking of wife and i flying up for weekend before to check it out. ive been a few times but just for work and shes never been
looking for the best value, good location on the strip with good pool and spa package. im willing to spend a bit but nothing too fancy. something in the middle would be great. if they have a bad arse buffet thats a plus but i dont mind going to someone elses buffet.
my early ones ive researched are MGM, New York, Paris, Mandalay.

If you want good location on the strip MGM and Mandalay Bay are not what you are looking for. Paris is the most centered of the ones listed. Bellagio usually has decent packages and is centrally located. Although I will the The Hotel at Mandalay Bay is a great place to stay.

If you are really worried about the buffet, the Wicked Spoon Buffet at the Cosmopolitan is one of the better ones on the strip, and it is right in the middle of everything.
You should be able to find a comparably priced room at any of the strip hotels, Mandalay Bay is pretty far from the center of the strip and you can find a hotel just as nice in the middle of everything.

Caesars great location maybe best/ very good restaurants and the best buffet too.

Only spa I've been to is the Wynn and it is very nice but pricy - there are probably cheaper ones that are just as nice.
As far as rooms go, any place on the strip is nice, just pick the location you want to be since it's a long walk between places.
For buffet, the new Bacchanal at Caesar's is the greatest thing ever made. Though it will run you $120/couple after tip, but champagne is included. Other buffets in Vegas should either renovate or just close.

Its a much better idea to pay 45 per person for the 24 hour buffet pass and then pay the upcharge for the Bacchanal buffet. That way you can at least go there multiple times with the 15 upcharge. Instead of paying full price or go there 1 time and get breakfast buffet at any other Caesars resort and a lunch.

Yea its probably the cheapest way to eat in Vegas if you dont mind buffets.
You can actually go late the first night you get it. Then get Dinner, Breakfast, Lunch and Early Dinner again for 45.
If you only went to the Bacchanel buffet that would be 105 per person for 4 meals there. $26 per meal at that Buffet is pretty good. You would die of course though.
BTW you can go to any buffet any number of times in that 24 hours. Dont recommend unless you want to be a fat arse though.

The food there is as good as most of the restaurants. I now shy away from buffets in Vegas except for this one from now on.
And the hotel itself is top notch. It's not cheap at all but you get what you pay for when it comes to service and amenities at the Cosmopolitan.

Wicked Spoon Buffet is good.
Caesars Buffet is better.
Both are expensive buffets.
Caesars seems to have stolen some of the Wicked Spoon's single serving idea which is a great idea.

I liked that as there was an item or two that I didn't care for and didn't feel bad for wasting.
Wicked Spoon for lunch is a good deal, $25. I will have to investigate Ceaser's if it's indeed on the level of Wicked Spoon. The MGM properties need to step up their game. The Mirage Brunch is solid but it's fading fast.

They brought in 6 chefs 4 of which were at Michelin Star places.
For a buffet its super high end quality.

Andrew Zimmern did an episode on this last year, I think the Bellagio and MGM Grand were the nicest for the buffet. I'd find a resonable hotel in a central location, it's not like you will be in the room much. Spend you money where it counts on going to shows, spas, etc.

If he did it early last year he would have not been able to visit bacchanal and probably didnt try Wicked Spoon. Both those are light years better than MGM and Bellagio.

Have stayed in Vegas many times for both business and pleasure. Have stayed at many different hotels but my favoriet is the Monte Carlo-not for the food but for the location and price. Their suites are usually very reasonable.

Monte Carlo is a great value. It's my normal spot to stay. The price for what you get is great. Last time I stayed at NYNY, the theme is kind of cheesy but still a nice place to stay.

NYNY is a fun casino. Really like the bar in times square. Monte Carlo is nice that you can take a free tram to Aria and Bellagio and then you are in the middle of the strip.
I dont care for anything south of NYNY. Mandalay is nice but too far from everything.
