| Fernando Torres - What once was (Posted on 1/10/13 at 1:29 am)
Today was seemingly the day that every Chelsea fan gave up complete hope in Torres. Ba came on, played for 10 minutes and made a bigger impact in those few minutes than Torres did in the 80 prior. His 26 goals in 100 appearances didn't merit half of his transfer fee. He was a bust in blue. It's a shame because his reputation is now set in stone - the £50m flop. The Chelsea fans gave him as much patience as they could bear. They hoped to see the vintage Torres - they wanted it so bad. And Ba is now giving them a glimpse of 'what could have been.' But let's not forget the electric player he was before his major injuries..before his move to London. His 82 goals in 142 games were a tremendous achievement despite several runs of injuries. He was simply spectacular, and will always be a Kop legend. Fernando Torres Liverpool goals

His placement, touch, and confidence is unreal in that video. I actually forgot how unbelievable he was. He would toy with keepers. He now seems terrified when he has the ball at his feet.

The best was when he would have his way with Vidic and Ferdinand..

I know beast, Beezy and I talked about this forever last night. I can assure you that Chelsea fans have tried to back him. They wanted him to return to form. They wanted him to bang in goals. The difference in yesterday and all the previous times was effort. Chelsea fans had forgotten what striker runs look like. They forgot about chasing the ball around. They forgot about hustle. Ba reminded us last weekend what a striker was. He then showed Swansea was not playing great defense in just 10 minutes. 10 minutes when they were holding on for dear life and putting 9 guys behind the ball. I like Torres. Yesterday was it for me. If you can't play hard, you can't play.

God damn he was so good. Ironically my favorite goal of his is the one against Marseille in the CL. I still wonder what happened to him.

Was a big fan of his during his time at Liverpool, even though I hate Liverpool and was just really hoping for more out of him with Chelsea...

Just goes to prove, Fernando, the grass isnt always greener... Even though you have a CL medal... That said, If I look at it rationally, I can't blame him for wanting to leave after H&G... and not being in the most patient mood to wait out FSG's intent... Atleast my memories of him will be as, arguably, the best striker in the world for that 3 year stretch...

Why the grass isn't always greener reference? I think this is a Torres problem, not Chelsea. I think there is something that we don't know that has gone on or continues on. You just don't lose your skills one day. Maybe over time, but we are talking overnight here.

El niño is the reason I became a Liverpool supporter and he will forever be endeared to my heart. Even when he moved to Chelsea I wished he would be able to all that he did @ Liverpool and more except against us that is and it was so sad to me see what has happen to him. JMO I believe he somewhat regrets his move even with the success Chelsea has had ... he just doesn't fit I wish more than anything we could have him and Xabi back it was magical times with these two ... and to complete my fantasy Rafa in football operations ... WOW

He will always be my favorite player no matter where is at or how his form is & I will always wish him the best. I hope he remembers YNWA Fernando Torres ETA: P.S. if he were too return to Anfield and heard his song sung by the faithful again. I believe like magic the Torres of old would return.

We will sell him back to you today for a 1/4 of what we bought him for. Deal? In all seriousness Chelsea really would be smart to try and get rid of him. If it's already clear Ba is a better option Torres is not going to take a benching well. Need to get him out of the dressing room.

9:32 Not a 'Pool fan, but Torres was my favorite player when he played there. Not a Chelsea fan either, but I wish he would return to form. El Nino was so much fun to watch. It's hurts to say it, but I think any chance of him returning is long gone. The question of what happened to him will be one of football's greatest mysteries.

How pissed would Daniel Sturridge be? Thinks he's got the chance to be a #1 option at the club (which he does right now) and Nando comes back.
