Many threads on who should be in ,who should not. The flaws in voting, numbers, steriods,etc.
This thread is reserved to specific changes you would like to see made.
make it at least 2 inductees every year. That takes this arrogance making players wait off the options for the voters.

I doubt any changes ever happen,, but by assuring SOMEONE gets in those self important writers would be more likely to vote for the deserving to avoid a less deserving player getting in

They should eliminate the Baseball Sportswriters of America voting on HOF inductees. It seems like a conflict of interest and it's devolved into a shite show with the steroid issue.

I would take some votes away, they have a ton of writers who vote who may never have actually watched some of these guys play in person.
I mean we've all heard of voters leaving off obvious HOF players and inserting some random player who may have made 1 all-star game.
Maybe add a little public vote that could count as a percentage for each member or something and remove some writers.

Actually, 2 inductees wouldn't clear out the backlog. I'd be fine with that rule.
But I actually think we should completely change the voting. Get rid of the BBWAA's right to vote. Have the Hall get a voting panel of about 100 people taken from both the ranks of the BBWAA and SABR (not stat geeks necessarily, but baseball historians -- SABR has a lot of non-stat oriented members). Then, they would submit an ordinal ballot of 10 names, like MVP voting. You rank the candidates on your ballots and weigh the vote.
Top vote getters get inducted. I'd probably say the top two get in for the first five years to deal with the massive backlog, but also to see what a good vote score is. Then set that score as the bar for induction.
Also, make it impossible to fall off the ballot. If someone wants to vote Dale Murphy in their top 10, let em do it. Also, just to get people to STFU, get rid of the rule that players on the permanent ban list are ineligible. Yes, make Rose eligible.

Oh, ballots must be public. And I think a voter's "term" should be somewhere between 5-10 years. No lifetime voting just because you covered the Brewers for 5 years when you were in your 20's.

thanks for the expansion on my simplistic top two get in.
It forces the voter to accept there are those not in that deserve to be so, Im not saying LIMIT it to two.
Keep the pect at 75% but with the stipulation that regardless top two get in,, youll see,,, two or three get in with low 80's( voters voting for their obvious fav since SOMEONE is getting in) and maybe another one breach the 75%

What happens when there are a few dry years and a person with less favorable stats gets in over someone that is no longer eligible?
That's the only problem I see. But it may not be possible, Baloo would know much better than I.

once on the ballot youre eligible for 10 years, then it goes to veterans committee
theres enough backlog now and expected over the next ten that shouldnt be a problem
Bonds and Clemons would eventually get in to avoid having a less deserving talent getting in as a part of the Auto 2

anyhew,,
I like my option as a very simple change that gets the guys in most of us agree belong
it avoids making wholesale changes to the hall and creating the dreaded asterisk.
My ballot would have had Bonds, Biggio, and Clemons
Bagwell I think gets in but I would not put in the class of the above 3
and Jack Morris deserves a bust as well
