Takagi tankless uses gas. Our house is a year old and I love it. Its hooked to all of our hot water. Talked to several people about it and none had problems. Our contractor had one in his house. Cant remember the number of heated gallons a minute. Everyone said as long as we didnt have all three showers, dishwasher and washing maching going it could handle it. So far its been great.

Tankless water heaters pull around 68 amps everytime you start one (when you turn on the hot water). So if you have the habit of turning the water on and off while shaving, teeth brushing etc or have kids your electricity bill is going to shoot through the roof. They're a fad IMO, stick with the tried and true.

I would never build another house without them. It's a sound decision.

Why is that? Cost prohibitive? I've got a house that's about 20 years old with natural gas. The wife has a big arse tub and filling that thing sucks up all of the hot water Better off just looking into a bigger conventional tank or adding a second tank (if that's possible) Just moved into the place, not even sure what the capacity is...just know it isn't enough.

Put two in my house. With a house that size I would recommend two or you will wait quite a while to get water where you want it. The other thing to consider is you will not have a reserve of hot water if the electricity goes out. So, if you live in area that you lose electricity often I would be hesitant. Otherwise, I would highly recommend them. The two I bought were rinnai natural gas, bought them online for a good price. That's my two cents on the matter.

Average tankless HWH cost is 2900-3400 installed. Normal HWH is 900 installed I would not go Tankless unless you really need the endless water, they are gas hogs

I built a new house approx 2 years ago and installed the Rheem Tankless hot water heater. We love it. Just be mindful of placement of the hot water heater. We placed our very close to the master bath since it gets used the most. Water gets hot very fast. So if you need two , I would place them on each side of the house.

I placed one on each side of my house as stated above. One close to master and one closer to the kitchen. They are pricey without a doubt, installation and venting is the most costly part (surprisingly). Love the endless hot water though.

I'm having an issue right now. I found a small leak in my water heater in the attic. Right now it evaporates from the burners. Thankfully its been noticed before it blew and my ceilings get soaked. I'm about to have the tech bid a tank and a tankless. Tankless may cost three times more. Do they last much longer than tanks? How hard is it to service and flush them? I'm considering a rinnai 9.4 gpm. I don't think I'll get my investment back with the savings in energy, but I want the ability to have infinite hot water and I imagine it would look attractive to a home buyer. Any other reservations from those with tankless?

If your concern is saving money.. Look at the cost of Natural Gas and let me know how much cutting 10-20% of your hot water heater natural gas cost will save you.

Have one in the new house.. haven't moved in the new house yet. From what the builder told us and the research that was done they are great. I wouldn't change out a good waterheater for a tankless. Wait until the one you have is giving you trouble.
