If these people are Catholic, then I'm a Democrat who believes in small government and 30 round magazines.

Do they feel the University of Alabama will better reflect and represent their liberal sensibilities?

The ultimate liberal CFB championship game: U. Wisconsin, Madison v. U. Calif, Berkeley The winner??? Doesn't matter. At the end of the game all points scored will be divided equally.

Great idea, let's apply the socialist model to football. I'm sure that that will make all fans very happy indeed. In the case of tonight's game, I'm OK with it.

There are so many "Catholics" out there who find it so difficult to understand that the Catholic Church is not a political party.

One of the great perplexities to me is why people want to stay associated with groups when their thinking does not line up with the group? Jesus H Christ, join another group. Or start your own group!

I eagerly look forward to watching the crying irish tears this evening when the "gumps" put the beatdown on them they have deserved all season long.

It's incredible. Seriously, even people out there who think religion is a scam can at least get on board with the notion of "if you don't agree, leave." People who claim to be Catholic yet say things like "but I beleive women have a right to choose" have no idea how the Catholic Church works.

Yes, this is more or less how I feel. If I didn't work for Notre Dame I'd probably be going for them though. As it is, I would never hear the end about their superiority to the SEC / LSU.

I'm Catholic but I believe women have the right to choose and I know how the Catholic Church works. And I still haven't decided who I'm pulling for.

Then you aren't really catholic if you are blatantly against one of the main tenets of the faith

So you're in opposition to the Magisterium, but call yourself a Catholic? Yeah, you're what I call "catholic" with a lower case "c."

I'm also against covering up child molestation but I am still a Catholic. You worry about your own hypocritical a-hole and I'll worry about mine. How's that?

In what way is anti-abortion politics a main tenet of the faith? Seems to me a moral question...it might be based on some precepts of faith, but in itself pro- or anti-abortion should be based on rational arguments. The pope himself doesn't command one be against abortion on his authority alone, but rather argues for the catholic position on the basis of natural reason. Which means, by the way, that faithful Catholics can disagree, in the same way that faithful catholics can disagree with each other on capital punishment or war.

And you're what I call a hypocrite, lower case. Look, I make it a point never to argue religion, even on message boards, because all faith is personal and I don't seek to question anyone's faith and find it disgusting for others to question faith. So I'm out.
