Everyone could see the ful context in which he said them, considering ESPN never edited them and left them up on their website as well.
He's trying to cover his ass, and doing a very poor job of it.

what i got from it is him saying, and i paraphrase
I'm not saying that he is not black enough, but that conversation is taking place within the black community
