| At 75 years old my grandpa is still wacking them. (Posted on 1/7/13 at 10:23 am)
We have a ladder stand on our property that is about a half mile canoe trip down the creek and my grandma is always telling him he's not allowed to go hunt that stand alone. Well he is as stubborn as they get and was able to sneak out the house yesterday because he had a feeling they were moving down there. Sure enough he was right.. Texted me at 5 saying he had one down so I drove out there to help.. I hope i'm still able to do this at 75! nice buck POP POP

Congrats to him. My dad is 75 as well and I worry about him constantly. I told him i was going to build him a stand with a staircase and rails, he didnt like that too much.

It's that generation. They grew up hard. We won't be like that. I posted here a few weeks ago that I had an uncle whose heater blew up in the deer stand with him. Burned off all his hair, moustache, eyebrows. Set his clothes on fire, blew the door of the stand, set the stand curtains on fire. He stayed in the stand and hunted awhile before loading up a hog he had shot the day before and taking it to the processor. THEN, he drove himself to the hospital to get wrapped up like a mummy. The thing was, his reaction didn't surprise me. I would expect my dad and all his brothers to do the same.

Grandma is probably on to something here. Trust me on this, ladders and ladder stands are like mules. They'll be good to you for 20 years just so they can kill you one day. Congratulations to your papaw!
