| Joshua Chamberlain ban? (Posted on 1/7/13 at 9:01 am)
How long is Joshua Chmaberlain banned? Was is a permanent ban? I think it was self imposed but I can't remember. He was by far one poster that I looked forward to reading every day. Just wondering. Thanks for any info.

After he screwed up the election predictions, he poured water on himself and melted away...

I'm pretty sure it was a self imposed ban. His prognostications were on the Dick Morris and Karl Rove level of fail. With that said, I wish he would come back.

Although he was a great inside source to the media; he misread the tea-leaves as bad as anyone on the right and chose to go away vs having to continually be reminded of his mistake.

Though at least he admitted his failure when the returns started to pour in. Karl Rove and Dick Morris were still trying to pump sunshine when everyone else knew Romney was going to lose.

His prognostications assumed a GOTV effort on election day. Not necessarily a GOTV effort the equivalent of Obama's, but some sort of effective program. There was none. None. 30,000 hapless soles milling around with no guidance from Boston. Pathetic. No one could have anticipated that level of incompetence.

Everyone who predicted a Romney win overestimated the turnout. Republican enthusiasm was supposed to be sky high while Democratic enthusiasm was supposed to be low. Obama did secure 10 million fewer votes this go around, but fewer people voted for Romney than did McCain. Voter turnout was down on both sides and conservative enthusiasm wasn't as high as most "experts" thought it was.

To believe that, you'd have to believe there was less enthusiasm for Romney than McCain. Hard to imagine anyone generating less enthusiasm than McCain. Romney was packing in tens of thousands at rallies. Maybe somehow there was less enthusiasm for him than McCain though.

I still have a hard time understanding this.......if you lived through the last four years and were even moderately conservative, I can't understand why in the hell you wouldn't just get out and vote against the a-hole, and why you would need to be prodded.

The Dems have BOUGHT enough of the electorate to make National wins impossible. And as they crash the private sector and cause even more GOVERNMENT DEPENDENCE...their power will only grow. McCain got more votes than Romney. Conservatives don't do well when it comes to selling out their principles. I.e., 'compromising'. And the won't in the future. What they will do is win LOCAL elections, and begin to undermine Federal power. Just like with the marijuana legalization movement. It'll be the same with taxes, soon enough. Rove and Morris played the old game. Dynamics, are dynamic. Fighters always say that the punch that knocks you out is the one you didn't see comin. You just wake up thinking WTF! Gonna be real interesting in the next few years!

In all fairness to Joshua Chamberlain, I'm not too sure how many could have accounted for the number of dumb arse people we really did have in this country who could look at 6 trillion in only 4 years, and say "sure, why not?"

There was less interest across the country. For both candidates.

It's hard to believe but it is true. How this is true is the million dollar question. Why did Romney fail to get as many popular votes as McCain got in '08? With the sub-par turnout Obama mustered, you would think that had Romney at least achieved McCain's voter turnout there'd be a new president in the White House.

I think the biggest problem was in the past evangelicals organized grass roots efforts to GOTV. That didn't happen this time because it was a Mormon. Evangelical vote was down about 25% I think from 2008.

Pretty silly of you to regurgitate that tired excuse about buying votes considering you voted for Obama in 08. As to the polls and turnout, before the election, I saw a breakdown of past polls comparing registered voters and likely voters and RV polls did better. And once again this time LV polls failed. BTW all the votes have been counted and Obama is the first president to win both elections by 51% or more since Eisenhower!
