Robert Cray said Albert Collins was his favorite guitarist. I got to see Robert Cray in concert, but never saw Albert Collins. I love the way he plays that Telecaster. For you gear heads, that's a specially built Tele with a custom humbucker pick-up in the neck position and a Fender single coil in the bridge position. He played through a Fender Quad Reverb (essentially a Twin Reverb amp with 4 twelve inch speakers)
Another big part of his tone was that he picked with his fingers, and tuned UP a 1/2 step to F and used a capo (so he could play in E).

One of the best shows I saw with him was the Austin City Limits episode he had

I went through a phase where I was listening to Sirius 72 (the Blues channel). Every once in a while I song would come on that I really liked. I'd look down to see the who the artist was .. inevitably it was Albert Collins.
that's all I got.
