but surely you don't mean to say that everyone with Muscular Dystophy who is collecting disability is a pathetic piece of shit?
Did you just choose to not read this part of my post? "Many use their "disabilities" as an excuse to sit at home and cash a check from the government. Granted, that doesn't apply to everyone"

I know a 90 year old who walks 5 miles every day, surely I do not expect every 90 year to be able to do so, and would not incorporate that when creating a standard by which 90 year olds would be measured. make sense?
There are very few disabled people who can't do some sort of work.

Does this mean that 84 million out of 300 million people in this country are disabled?

80-90%, which makes the study BS.

That's what I wonder...especially with the amount of computer and home-based work available now. Seems if your brain functions at all you can work.

Did I miss something? Is there any evidence to support that assertion?

I arrested a guy a few weeks ago who is disabled. He is 27, and does not work because his disability is ADD And I could probably recount hundreds of people that I deal with that are similar to this :banghead:

No, but is there any evidence that asserts that disability means you can't work?

I would say there is evidence to support the proposition that the majority of those receiving SS disability payments are not frauds.

Many of these ridiculous disability claims are legal, not fraudulent.

and why did the medical community determine to allow these legal claims? What's in it for them to do so?

I forget what you do. Have you handled many of these cases as a doctor or an attorney?

don't both payments come out of SS?
Title II Disability comes out of the same fund as Retirement Social Security. SSI is Title XVI and is paid from the general fund - it is means tested - for all practical purposes the same eligibility standards as Medicaid.

Even if you fix disability which is abused, you have not fixed our entitlement problem, or fix our deficit. We have to cut SS, medicare and defense. Its the only fricking solution to our shitshow.
