When I lived in Denver I flew NONSTOP to London roundtrip for $198.
My cousins in Dallas fly to Maui (rt) for like $400 every year.
Why the hell is Louisiana (Nola and BR ) such a freaking expensive market ?

lots of flights and competition in those bigger markets.

The hotel cost considerably more per night and was marginally less roomy.

November 1998 just in time for Guy Fawkes Day.
But there were always $99 dollar fares to Vegas or LA.
Yet I can never find a deal anywhere out of Baton Rouge.
Once in a blue moon out of Nola on SW.

BR isn't a major hub. You live in a major hub city, you are more likely to find deals.

Bet you couldn't find that now. Fuel prices have really affected airfares.
When I fly back to La, I just go to Dallas and either rent a car or have someone pick me up.

Best deal I got was $300 to Honolulu from Phx, that was 2 years ago

There were great deals until a couple of years after 9/11 and prices have just kept rising everywhere since then.

broskie my used to fly miami to LA for $3 bc his dad worked for eastern airline or whatever it was called the hub out here....in the 60s or 70s.....its 2013, the global economy sucks and inflation is rampant...$400 is a cheap ticket now

Airfare prices from JNU have doubled in some cases. We only have one carrier though.
I used to take day trips to Seattle in the late 90's for less than $300 total airfare. Now, it's over $500 round trip.

New Orleans isn't really any worse than anywhere else; they have enough competition to keep the airlines fairly honest. Baton Rouge is another story.
