| Georgia mother shoots home intruder 6 times to defend her children (Posted on 1/6/13 at 1:08 pm)

quote:
The mom heard knocks on her front door Friday and assumed it was just a solicitor, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. She told her 9-year-old twins not to answer the door and, when the visitor began repeatedly ringing the doorbell, she called her husband at his job and he told her to gather the children and hide.
quote:
By that time, according to the paper, the intruder had used a crowbar to forcibly enter the home, and made his way to the home office. “He opens the closet door and finds himself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver,” Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The woman fired six bullets, five of which hit Paul Ali Slater in the face and neck area, Chapman said. But Slater, who has arrests dating to 2008 and was released from jail in August, was still conscious. “The guy’s face down, crying,” the sheriff said. The woman told him to stay down or she’d shoot again. While down, the woman and her children ran to a neighbor’s house, and the injured intruder made it out of the home and into his car, the paper reported.
But I thought gun owners where fooling themselves believing that they could stop home intruders with firearms? Any chance this gets aired on MSNBC?

Almost don't see the point in running. No way you are avoiding the hospital with 5 shots to the head/neck.

If only she had a .45 he wouldn't have made it to the car. Take the gun away and the situation most likely would have ended badly for her and her kids. But hey, screw them right? Guns are bad, we shouldn't have them, she should have died/been assaulted with her kids

The guy is still alive after 6 shots and drove away. Yet people think that there is no need for more than 10 rounds. What if there had been 2 attackers?

She needs to get in some practice at the range or buy a .45 IMO.

Shot 5 times in the head. He's fortunate she didn't shoot him in a vital organ instead.

Meh. Probably just sees gun-related words on the page and calls up a relevant ad.

Obviously. It doesn't tie to you specifically, but how do you think Google makes so much money? They gather, analyze, and sell demographical data.

Handled it correctly. Where are the halfwit politards who were defending the psycho who executed those two teenagers?

In the meantime, the total risk of dying by homicide or suicide is significantly higher in a house with a gun: LINK

You can make a case for using a gun for home defense, but I hardly think this story makes a case for 10 or more rounds. My guess is that if she had 10 or more rounds she may very well have used all 10 on the first guy with the same results.
