Great question. The box says "made and manufactured by nvidia" so I guess them? Geforce GTX 660ti is all I can find.

Looks like it's an Nvidia branded card. I thought they stopped doing that years ago.

You do not just have a reference cooler you have an actually reference card. I didn't know BestBuy sold stuff like this.

I didn't either. Like I said, I was looking at a few on newegg then I got a ton of gift cards for christmas so I just pulled the trigger. Works a hell of a lot better than my old card so I'm good.

Explain this to me like I am 12. What's the difference in that and a 660Ti made by EVGA for example.

Assuming you mean 660 ti, they are the exact same card except ones made by evga and one was made by nvidia

At least I'm pretty sure there isn't any difference between all the reference cards (maybe some internal cooling/heatsink stuff that shouldn't make too big of a difference)

Yes exact same card.

Companies improve on the cooling or find other ways to improve the card such as memory and power placement.

re: PC Gamers Benchmark/E-Peen Competition - Spring Edition

Not sure if it's different for Nvidia cards, but not all AMD cards seem to be alike. In the case of the 6950s, there were two reference PCBs, which made it really annoying to find full-cover waterblocks. On top of that, companies like Sapphire made proprietary PCB designs that were not compatible with any other coolers or full-cover waterblocks. And those proprietary PCBs came with a locked bios for the most part.

I had an MSI 6950 with the original reference PCB and reference cooler, then later bought a Sapphire 6950 with a "good" cooler -- only because I got it cheap on ebay. I cooled both with an MCW82 waterblock and ramsinks. I was lucky that the sapphire had a bios switch and unlocked shaders, but flashing it with any other bios was not possible. The voltage was capped at 1.18, it didn't overclock well at that voltage, and GPU-Z couldn't monitor the VRM temperature.

The MSI, on the other hand, was perfect in every way. I'm betting the stuttering I got using crossfire was mostly due to that Sapphire card. It was definitely a noob-oriented card, meant to provide good cooling with an extremely modest overclock, nothing more.

Since you bumped......

Some very basic OC'ing. Went from 7589 to 8524. Bumped the CPU to 4.0 and gave the GPU a slight boost.

What voltages are you at with the 3570k?

Edit - and your 3570k at 4.0 is scoring higher than my 3570k at 4.4 and buckeye's i7 2600k at 4.3

re: PC Gamers Benchmark/E-Peen Competition - Spring Edition

I just received an offer that really wants to make me go back to an ATX build. I was offered this deal for my 7970...

3570k (delidded and runs 4.5ghz at 1.182)
Gigabyte z77x-ud3h
Fractal Arc Midi with side window mod
2 cougar vortex 120mm fans
Plus cash that we are negotiating on

I love my prodigy, but this would be a great base to another build
