When The Scouts Get It Wrong (Posted on 1/5/13 at 6:07 am)
I'm bored as frick, so I thought I'd look at the current NFL draft predictions and top ten prospects at each position and compare them to how these players were rated/ranked coming out of high school. This is a list of "the ones they missed".
WR: Terrance Williams (#1) - 2* Unranked Aaron Dobson (#3) - 2* Unranked (Was the 4th best prospect in WV though ) Cobi Hamilton (#4) - 3* #63 WR Marcus Davis (#6) - 3* #38 ATH Aaron Mellette (#7) - No Profile Tyrone Goard (#8) - 0* Unranked Quinton Patton (#9) - 3* JUCO Unranked Markus Wheaton (#10) - 3* #41 ATH
TE: Travis Kelce (#2) - 2* Unranked ATH Ryan Otten (#3) - 2* Unranked OLB Chris Gragg (#6) - 2* Unranked WR Zach Sudfeld (#7) - 2* Unranked Vance McDonald (#10) - No Profile
OT: Eric Fisher (#1) - 2* Unranked Dallas Thomas (#2) - 3* #54 OT Ricky Wagner (#5) - No Profile Lane Johnson (#6) - 0* Unranked QB (Gained 108lbs from 202 to 310) Brian Winters (#7) - 2* Unranked John Wetzel (#10) - 2* Unranked
OG: Chance Warmack (#1) - 3* #20 OG Jonathan Cooper (#2) - 3* #21 OG Larry Warford (#3) - 3* #30 OG Travis Bond (#4) - 3* #46 OT Hugh Thornton (#5) - 3* #34 OT Braden Hansen (#7) - 2* Unranked OT Blaize Foltz (#8) - 2* Unranked OG (Who the frick names their kid Blaize?) Earl Watford (#9) - No Profile Chris McDonald (#10) - 3* Unranked OG
I'll do more positions later. I'm finally falling asleep. Enjoy.

Kind of misleading since the rankings you used are only of the top SENIOR prospects at each position. Factor in the underclassmen entering the draft, and the story changes just a bit.

This. The guys that come out early are the ones that were highly rated recruits. They've had $$$ in their eyes since they were 16.
