Just bought my wife a Ruger LCR. 357 for Christmas. Will practice with 38s (we just did yesterday) and load. 357 in it when she carries. Agreed, not much different from a 357 and "+" 38s.

Really? I had my wife practice with my 357, using 38 wad cutters. Thought I would get cute and put a 357 round in as a joke. Glad the gun was empty after that 357 round.

Bunch of size queens in this thread. She probably didn't select a good ammo. You don't see police departments issuing .45s because it's overkill and you are more likely to overpenetrate doing less damage.

Damn, reading this thread is depressing. The OT is filled with a bunch of mini psychos. The woman had every right to shoot him, and if he died, so be it. But to wish for his death after the fact is ridiculous, callous, and appalling. Choose to indignant about the guy, but don't wish death on the guy.

Guess I should have worded that different. My point was the .38 & .357 are very close in size. So close in fact you can fire .38 rounds in a .357.

My wife has zero problems with my 1911, but a lot of folks thing handguns are a lot more powerful then they actually are.

Hmm... My home defense weapon is a .38 special loaded with JHP. If I hit someone 5 out of 6 times with it they are leaving my house in a body bag.

Exactly. There is a ton of difference between a JHP and FMJ wound cavity.
