I graduate in May and I have been strongly considered joining the AF Reserve. I have a job that wouldn't interfere with training.
Does anyone have any experience with reservists?

Is it enjoyable?
Are reservists respected? Especially a butter-bar?

I don't have ESPN but yeah, I'm sure you will, but only on weekends and 2 weeks in the Summer.

My best friend is a marine, 2nd Lt. Gets shite on hard. He said reserveists get it worse. Same who is an enlisted in the AF.
I don't want to do it for my career, just to do my part. It be nice to have some supplemental income and tuition reimbursement.
I hope the ESPN is the old ESP joke.

I was in the Marine Corps from 05-09. I enjoyed my time in, made a lot of friends from every part of the country. My only regret was not going into a job that would translate in the civilian world. So if you go into the militay, just choose a job where you can learn skills useful outside the military.

longer than that
8 weeks basic in the AF then tech school is at least 3 months and depending on your job get near a damn year.

I was in the navy reserve. My career was great overall. I did several periods of active duty. The active guys may be apprehensive of you at first, but once you prove you add value theres no difference. I dont know whata butter bar is, but if it means you are out of shape, then i would look up the height weight standards and prt for your age and get in shape.

Not especially because most reservists bring very little to the fight. It's cute to say that reservists have civilian expertise that allows them to be better at their military job. It's not entirely true though.
Most reservists I have worked with offered very little. Being in the military is a way of life and they miss out on much of that.
