Another case for high capacity magazines, if she would of had a weapon with high capacity she could of finished the job, what if there were multiple intruders? Sometimes six shots ain't enough.

And the lady who shot him will have to pay for all of his medical bills, I'm sure.
She "excessively" shot the intruder, and he was "injured on her property."
Al Sharpton will arrive in that town to defend the "hard working black man who was just trying to support his family" in 3... 2...

My post was not referencing to the burglar at all. However, if you'd like to know, I'm glad she shot his ass. I'm probably one of the more pro-gun posters on this board. As any logical human being, I'm glad she was able to protect herself and family.

Many women have trouble racking the slide on a compact (purse sized) semi auto because they have a stiff spring.
I don't know what type ammo she was using, but my wife carries 130 gr jhp's and I seriously doubt he would have been talking with 5 of those holes in him.

A .45 is too much pistol for most women I've seen. The size of the grip is usually too large for them to hold it comfortably, especially when firing. They tend to feel like the pistol is about to fly out of their hand and hit them in the face. These are great for target practice but rather poor at putting a person down. A hollow point is the round to load in this caliber pistol for personal defense. I bought my wife Ruger SP101 years ago. She picked it out after firing several other makes and models and chose it because the grip to her felt the most comfortable. I make sure she keeps Corbon 123 gr. hollow points loaded at all times.

Very true. The .38 is virtually identical to a .357 which has a nasty reputation as a gun that will put someone down in one shot.
Really the only difference is the .357 cartridge is slightly longer than the .38. In fact you can load .38 cartridges in a .357 and fire away. But you can't load a .357 in a .38 due to the length of the .357 cartridge.
With either weapon though, I'd still recommend loading JHP's. Better to be safe than sorry.
