I have a question. If you get below absolute zero and it starts to get hotter, what happens if you start heating the thing? Does it get even hotter or colder? I don't know what is what anymore!

Simply there is a temperature scale that makes a cycle...such as a circle, rather than it being in two opposite directions. So once it gets to the coldest point, it just starts heating up again. Since absolute zero allows for no molecular motion, then only way to go is up. They start moving, energy is created, heat is produced. frick I dunno

Temperature is a measurement of the kinetic energy of molecules. Absolute zero is when it is cold enough there is no motion. So when you have less than no motion, you have infinite motion?

I think this is some scientists coming up with bull shite so they can renew their grant money.

But yet, science is right and religion is just preposterous

I have only one comment, this violates every concept of physics so perhaps this article is the same as the one about cold fusion. Lies heaped on lies, covered in lies with more lies spooned on for a sauce. If you dig into the science all they did was minimize the movement of atoms which hardly raises any ne#$%$ive temperature, it simpley gets the atoms closer to zero. I mean, If you look up the concept, the writer of this article seems to have been on pot or some other illegal substance. the paper describes what they claim to have done, make a lattice of Bosons and than limit the interactions between them. That does not seem to make any negative temperatures. So it is a bit preachy to go on about 110 percent engines. Yeah, I just copied two comments from the link I posted. I have no clue about this stuff.

To be fair, the quoted part is the worst part of the article to take out of context. Actually reading it....I do know enough about quantum mechanics to have a clue at what they are getting that. I may need to read it a few more times before I can claim to understand it though.

I guess the biggest "problem" is what the fallout of this is the apparent breaking of laws of physics. Mainly the Law of conservation of energy. Will lead to a lot of scientists doing this:

So if its a cycle, that means an object can get so hot that eventually it becomes the coldest fricking thing known to man?

Yup, and we will call that temperature Absolute Zero :mindblown: How will scientists explain that?

So.. It's snowing in hell? Does this mean "Snowballs chance in hell" is actually 100%?

More than likely this. Sounds like someone got a grant to look at something and this was the best he could come up with.
