Money doesn't buy happiness...or does it?

Research says about 75k a year. Could you consider yourself "happy" with less? Or would you need more to be truly "happy"
quote:

Happiness seems to increase as income increases- but only up to $75,000 per year. At higher income levels happiness may still increase, but not significantly. This number has been researched thoroughly and seems to hold true for most people in the United States. It is a level of income can cover basic needs, savings, charitable spending, and discretionary spending. The bottom line- after $75,000 has been earned, people don’t have to worry about money. But that doesn’t mean they don’t.

and yes I realize everyone on the OT makes millions, billions, and gazillions a year.

They say money can't buy happiness.

Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy fishing gear. Which is pretty much the same thing.

Of course. I have a pretty shitty entry level job and make peanuts, but am still fairly happy. If I made half of 75K I'd be ecstatic. I can't think of anything in the world that I would really, REALLY want that I couldn't do with 75K. Hell less than that actually.

ETA: It all comes down to living within your means, which many people have no concept of.

Money can't buy you happiness but it can buy you a better level of misery.

Of course it buys happiness. The only people who say it doesn't are poor.

Money buys prostitutes. The more money you have the better quality the prostitute. So money=happiness.

It buys a waver runner. Try riding one of those things with a frown. It can't be done.

$75K wouldn't be bad. I'm just starting my first professional job so I'm not making big money but I'm happy. I just live within my means and work hard to get promoted and make more money.

Money can buy happiness. Only poors would argue that.

This is the answer. You live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else. Dave Ramsey is right..
