I read your link. Nothing but Big East butthurt here. If this happened, ESPN and ACC have been caught making good business decisions IMO.
You must not read all good and stuff.

Did you miss the part where BC's coach stated that ESPN told them which teams to grab? ESPN told them what to do.

Y'all raise good points about the Texas Tech situation. It still doesn't bother me enough to change the channel.

Good for ESPN.

using your monopolistic powers to kill a conference b/c you are pissed they didn't accept a lowball offer and planned on taking themselves to open market to try to get a better deal is a good thing?

one more example of them trying to squash anything they don't own is the derth of Cotton Bowl coverage they give even though its consistently one of the higher rated games.

They'll cover the Super Bowl extensively and won't broadcast it.

re: Has ESPN Destroyed Sports?

two things, they have a contract with the NFL to air plenty of games and the NFL is pretty much the only entity you can't boss around.

remember, the NFL is why the well received show Playmakers was canned. It wasnt bad ratings. It was the fear they could lose out of airing NFL games that got it axed.

The NFL is by far the most powerful sports league in the world and the Super Bowl is by far the highest rated single day sporting event.

they don't want to piss off the NFL and lose the rights to the games.

hell, I wouldn't be shocked to see the NFL playoffs end up on ESPN in the next 15 years. They are certainly going to try to get them.

but if ESPN didnt have NFL games and knew they'd never get them you can be sure their coverage would be drastically reduced.

You are 100% correct about the Cotton Bowl. I have not seen a single thing about it.

In fact, I have almost forgot about the game until you just brought it up.

Yes they have but the olympics are already fricked up and totally unwatchable. NBC coverage is so bad, insulting and goofy that if al Qaida had a team is probably cheer for them to beat our athletes. That is truly how bad they are or at least as portrayed by NBC, just fricking horrible.

It's not a BCS game. They'll discuss it plenty tomorrow.

The unconditional love for that fricking moron Leach on this board is one of the strangest things I've seen. The guy is an overrated douchbag and has been since the beginning of his career.

Grat job at wazoo this year

fricking grown man who like to dress up like a pirate and play grabass with the boys.

It was his first year at Wazoo their mr analyst I hardly think that proves anything. The establishment hates leach because he wasn't a player and has states extensively that in law school he realized football wasn't that hard to understand and decided to become a coach. He's done pretty good for a non jock and it makes them look bad.

Thank god they can't get their hands on the Olympics or they would frick that up as well.

They might actually show Olympic events live instead of that shite show that NBC pulled off this past summer.

re: Has ESPN Destroyed Sports?

they started the spiral

when SC went from straight sports highlights to "creating stories" it started the downward trend

sports at one time was a release, fun enjoyable

now it's like being in politics, full of hate, backstabbing, evilness and TMZ style living

it's a foul situation and the "coverage" of sports has def started destroying the sport it's suppose to cover

quote:

You don;t think TV (ESPN) had NOTHING to do with you getting in a shitty arse bowl this year?

i don't think ESPN had anything to do with it

quote:

You don't think ESPN is behind the whole fricked up Super teams in the NBA?

ESPN definitely didn't have anything to do with this

quote:

They have 6 teams that hey suck cock on and they shite on the rest of the NBA teams.

why are they talking about OKC and the Clippers now? where was that 5 years ago?

since, you know, they only talk about some chosen set of 6 teams

quote:

They are also behind the whole Super Conferences in College football

is that why the Big10 and Pac12 created their own TV networks? because ESPN likes competition?

quote:

They are also behind the whole having to wait 40 fricking days to play a god damn College Football Championship game.

when the BCS was on FOX, there was the same wait

before the BCS, there was a similar wait
