| Fiscal Cliff Deal Sneaked In Wall Street Gifts, NASCAR Perk (Posted on 1/3/13 at 7:33 pm)
The 11th-hour deal to avert the so-called fiscal cliff preserved billions of dollars in corporate tax giveaways even as it slashed take-home pay for millions of American workers. Tucked inside the last-minute fiscal cliff package were more than a dozen tax loopholes, many of which will benefit Wall Street financial firms and some of the nation's biggest corporations. These breaks will cost billions of dollars in the coming year, underscoring the lobbying power of corporate interests. The deal was less kind to the middle class. Congress permitted a cut in the payroll tax to expire, meaning that the tax burden for the average worker will increase about $1,000 in 2013. "This shows that the lobbyists are able to get what they want even when everyone else is starving," said Phineas Baxandall, senior analyst for tax and budget policy at the U.S. Public Interest Research Group. "It also shows they are best able to get what they want when no one else is paying attention." LINK

We all know Obama would never do this. He can't stand the rich fat cats. George W. Bush must have snuck this in the fiscal cliff package.

The sooner people understand that globalist dictate what our gov. does or doesn't do, and that they want to eliminate the middle class completely, the sooner there will be a revolution.

I hope the report I heard was wrong, but this was the gist of it: - The tax break deals were constructed by lobbyists last summer - These details were inserted at the last minute at the insistence of the White House - The bill existed for 3 minutes before the Senate voted on it, meaning they had "to pass it to find out what's in it." Someone out there tell me the above is wrong. ETA: The 3-minute period was for a bill of 154-pages.

Why does this still surprise you? It's been like this for years. Obama was the best hope to change the system, but the system is too powerful and too entrenched for any one man to change.

This stuff has been going on forever. It was one of the focal points of the more intelligent side of the Occupy movement. It's why Stephen Colbert formed a SuperPAC. People are tired of groups with deep pockets that seem to direct the country in whatever way they please.

Bingo. I posted an article on here earlier in the week that named former U.S. Senators Trent Lott (R-MS) and John Breaux (D-LA) as two of the main players in working a bunch of sweet pork into this supposed "fiscal cliff" deal.

Some of y'all are hilarious. How do you think these people even get the possibility to be elected?
