If Joaquin Phoenix who puts on the best performance in The Master and the best performance of the year gets snubbed, but Hoffman and Adams get nominated then that will be the biggest joke since Saving Private Ryan lost best picture. Not that Hoffman and Adams don't deserve it because they do, but to nominate them and leave out the best performance in that same film would be ridiculous. Phoenix acted circles around the other nominees (especially Denzel). It will be a shame if the Academy votes based on politics and not performance.

Only problems I have... Tarantino should be nominated for Best Director as well. Remove Tom Hooper for him. Sorry but Hooper's close up shots, etc. were the weak links of that movie. The performances are what make it good.

I don't watch many foreign films, and I don't know much about Oscar nominations, but I'd say The Raid: Redemption deserves a nomination.

Question: How can Zero Dark Thirty win an Oscar if it hasn't been released everywhere yet?

because everything Kathryn Bigelow does from here on out will automatically receive nominations. she's the main girl in the boys club now. its a motivational storyline for the Academy and media to sell to the public.

Easy. The people who vote (the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences) have already seen the movie. And the film has been in limited release (NY & LA) since mid-December.

will they be nominating up to 10 films for best picture this year like they have been doing? I'm just curious why you only chose 7 films when in the last three years they have nominated - 9, 10, and 10.

That, and the fact that she makes excellent movies. . . Geez, have you even seen Zero Dark Thirty yet? I doubt it.

Also now thinking about it.. Christoph Waltz needs to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor as well. Remove Arkin. Waltz was superior by far. And it would be a crime if he isnt nominated because people feel his acting out his character is too close to Hans Landa. Which couldnt be further from the truth.
