If you consider humans shedding then sure. Not all dogs shed. However you can consider it 'shedding' when a few hairs fall out like in humans. Its not enough to notice, just like with humans.

Look at getting a Vizsla if you are active or hunt. They are smart, clean, very little shedding, don't smell, low maintenance, good looking and are great family pets. Males are around 60-70lbs so smaller than a lab. This is mine "Dakota".

Wow...what are the chances of that!? Dakota is my 3d dog (had Dalmatians) but first gundog. I might never own another breed. They are awesome.

I tried the Breed finder site didn't show me any results. Heading to the shelter today looks like going to have to end up with a yorkie or something like that.

They leave him in a kennel/crate instead of letting him roam free in the house

BROffshore insists that it does. Your argument is invalid.
I said that if a dog has hair, it sheds. Whether you want to call it "hair falling out" or "shedding" is semantics.

If you don't know what crate or kennel training is, you should start with a stuffed animal.

Even short hair dogs can shed a lot; an ex-gf's roommate once had a Boxer and the hair would cover the sofa

Unless you have a better plan to get the breed you want, how else do you think you acquire specific breeds?

Poodles are ugly boxers are too big and beagles ears are weird. Any one that look like labs but are smaller? Btw blue heelers look like good dog but too much shedding.
You are picky as frick. But my girlfriend has a lab/beagle mix that looks just like a lab but smaller. Maybe you could find one of them.

That sounds awesome. Good temperament? Heavy shedder? how much do they typically go for?

The only dog that will shed based on those links is the last one. The rest will require grooming.
