Hate to bust up such a great "inside scoop" but every OC in football uses a list of plays for each game that has been determined based on the coaching staffs assessment of the opposing teams weaknesses or "game plan" as its better known.

Has this board been taken over by 15yr old morons? Generally the offensive coordinator sets the offensive gameplan, which is made by staff decisions with some input from the head coach. Miles is SETTING THE GAME PLAN.......little input from the other guys.

Crowton - ran 5 wides, throw it all over the yard offense prior to getting here......did he do that here?

Studrawa - comes from the Bowling Green/Urban Meyer spread option type style of play. Is that run here?

there are also coaches that run different styles based on their talent level and personnel.

pro style offenses are not the enemy. when talent is equal or superior they are kinda the way to go. the reason meyer ran the spread option at FLorida was because of tebow. it's a little different now at OSU and was tweaked a little as a more traditional spread. and he doesn't fire the ball everywhere. it's still an offense that relies on balance.

as for crowton, i'm pretty sure we set passing and offensive records in 07. the missing piece after that year was a competent QB.

weird, it's almost like coaches play to their strenghts on what gives them the best chance to win while doing their best to hide weaknesses.

Crowton's multiple formations constantly resulted in delays of game, actually.

1 total yard in the 4th quarter

Jeremy hill had zero carries

it's 1 net yard because of the way college football counts sacks, which i think is silly. after all, lsu gained 8 yards on their last 1st down play.

actually he did run a bit of 5 wide his first couple yrs. tailed off after Lee's int problems.

and Crowton wasn't just a 5 wide guy, he had some option teams at BYU and Oregon.

The problem isn't the play list, it is the order, execution and timing the plays are called in.

Have a great day yourself!

Does LSU have the personnel to run these types of offense?
Jefferson? Lee? What-A-Berger? Hell no. So what is LSU left with? a pocket passer with horrible feet, suspect decision making abilities at the line and horrible accuracy.
As a caveat, the O line looked like a High school line. Their play was wretched.

Did anyone see Mett throw a long pass. I didn't! ..... Oh yeah except for that overthrown one, that we can count on from him at least once per game. He has no touch on his long passes and doesn't give his WR's even a chance of completion because he overthrows the long ball consistently. How many long "Rueben Randle" type TD passes did we throw this year? I can think of the one handed Landry catch and that's it. I'm sure I'm wrong and will be corrected by just an observation and pet peave of mine.

I think they did call more deep passes to start, but Alexander couldn't block a pee wee player and Mett kept going down before any deep routes could develop.

If you don't trust your OL to keep your QB upright, you don't call plays that take a long time to develop.

Don't think that I'm pleased with what happened during the game, I'm just looking at this objectively.

Les gives stud a list of plays for that game's script on Tuesday and Wednesday..and Stud calls from that list. Everyone wants a new OC. If LSU got Kevin Sumlin and Mike Leach as Co-OC's the offense would still look the EXACT same. Stud simply calls plays from a list provided by CLM. Not hating on Miles, im simply saying that a changing of OC's will yield little difference if any in the scheme. Bowling Green didnt have this scheme when Stud was there.

Amen!

I don't know if Les is calling the plays or not. But I think it's obvious from just watching the games he's much more involved on the sidelines when we have the ball. You rarely see him talking to Chavis on the headset when we're on defense.

And yes, before some idiot says he played on offense so this is to be expected, not all head coaches are cut out to be offensive coordinators. A philosophy, and mind set can be established without being completely involved in the actual game planning and play calling.

Well they why bring the guys in the first place? Let's pretend for a second that Georgia Tech had a prolific option offense and you were searching for an OC....would you bring that guy in to run a team with pro syle talent?

Most objective observers can see this...but this is the rant and the Miles jock sniffers will never admit to the truth about his incompetence.

Charlie Hanagriff has said this before too in postgame shows, or along these lines. It should be more widely known than it is.

Its Studs o-line and it's been shit-tastic since he's been here. This year gets a little bit of a pass due to injuries. The Oline has been average at best for maybe 1 year and the rest have been under achieving.

I think this is the part that we should all look at. A shitty o-line can make the best playcall in the world look terrible.

I mean Clemson only had 18 ppl in the box

Hmmm...I counted at least 15 on the previous 2 3rd and short that were stopped. Lets face it. When they know whats coming it is hard to block 8 or 9 much less 15-18 in the box with 7!

The plays were open....agree or not...execution was not the best.

They would never come if they were not given complete control over the offense. Just as Chavis would not stay if we was not given complete control over the defense
