We'll see. I'm hoping I can just end up staying here.

COL is the biggest reason a Chicago move didn't happen for me.
We have an office in Chicago and I would do terrible things to get a job there. For what I have to pay here I could get a much nicer and larger place there overlooking the lake.

About $1200 a month for a 1b/1b overlooking the lake..... was literally a week from moving there and had two real estate agents sending me constant information in Lincoln Park and Lake View. I love Chicago, but it is really damn cold this time of the year I prefer flying up there 15 times a year instead haha.

I was open to anything in those areas. I know Diversey, Clark, Lincoln, Addison, etc were the general area. I even was considering as far up as Uptown, but it is a bit too far from downtown for my tastes (and I hear not the best part of town). I also looked at Gold Coast and River North, but they were too expensive for my tastes. When you start getting into the $1500+ all-in costs per month, I just couldn't justify paying that to live by myself.

Believe me, I know..I live about three/four blocks from Gold Coast. That place is ridiculous. Bought a condo two years ago and glad I got it for the price I got...couldn't have afforded those areas.

What area? Sounds like you are up the northern coast. I have heard that you can go a little west and start saving some money (Bucktown, Wicker Park, etc), but I really wanted to be close to the lake.

I'm in between there...I am literally a block off of Old Town. There used to be some projects around here (Cabrini Green). They knocked those down and built a couple of condo buildings. It's pretty good..I'm not a fan of some of the subsidized units in my building, but I've never had problems.
