| O-T Veterinarians PLEASE HELP! (Posted on 12/31/12 at 8:19 am)
I have a 10 pound Yorkshire Terrier that pees ALL THE TIME! I mean just about every hour or two this dog who is two and a half years old has to piss. I've taken him to the vet several times. Once they did find a urinary tract infection but that was awhile back. Any ideas what this could be related to?

What you got here is a simple matter of science. You have a small girly dog which means your dog has a small girly bladder which means it can't hold a lot of liquid over a long period of time. /thread.

the other possibility is a urinary retention issue. I know she is young, but it is still possible. detrol may help her

I just had my wife read your OP. She thinks that it could be diabetes. Did it ever have any blood work done? Does it look like it has a pot belly?

I am not a Vet.. however. If 10 lbs is heavy for that size dog and it has a pot belly it may be cushings disease.

No diabetes. Had extensive blood work and tests. They can't find anything even though at first they were confident the tests would show what the problem was. Going back Wednesday. Will ask about detrol. Thanks.

It may simply be incontinence. Our black lab was incontinent. She was on some drug that tightened up her bladder sphincter muscle, and it worked really well.

Our female is on Proin which is for urinary incontinence. It helps her a lot but she still needs to go outside a lot.
