Yes, this FO, these coaches and some of these players have done some wonderful things since 2005. I can give them props for what they've done well, and at the same time, identify what they have failed to do well.
In what area of franchise building have they failed? Defense.
How do you overcome a historical record of losing? Sustained excellence.
How do you build sustained excellence? Stop fricking up for years in building your D roster.

world class speed on defense. defense wins championships. Game is won on the offensive and defensive lines and also with speed not by a Breesus. Breesus didn't do shite. I would put the fastest defense in the world on there: no way they could lose.

That WAS a poorly run franchise for decades.
I expect excellence. What the FO and HC have done for the past five years in building the D cannot be called "excellence." I'll bet they agree.
Let's watch them fix it.
. . . and again, all of the name calling and bashing . . . it affects me not at all. I expect fans to react in that manner.
I'm simply being objective, critical and vocal in my expectations that NFL professionals produce excellence in all phases of the game ON A SUSTAINED AND CONTINUOUS BASIS.
EXCELLENCE is the standard. If there is failure to attain excellence, then understand why failure occurred, and take measures to correct the deficiencies so that EXCELLENCE can be attained.
But, make no mistake: anything less than Excellence requires improvement.
Excellence is the standard. Accept no substitutes.

Yes, the defense has been bad. But you act like they are blatantly not working on the defense. We picked up a very good coordinator in Spags. We have been spending all our first round draft picks recently on defense with the exception of Ingram. We have gone after big names in free agency in the last several years, i.e. Lofton, Sharper, etc.
Just because it's not happening doesn't mean they're not trying. There are 20 teams that don't make it the playoffs each year. Are all of these teams not trying? The right pieces have to fall in place and it just hasn't happened for us yet to get a great defense.

Professionals don't need excuses because excuses are merely a nice explanation for why you failed to attain Excellence.
Accept no substitute for Excellence. Excellence in all phases of the game at all times. This is the Standard.
