We're not handed manuals on how to deal with xyz when they hit us, hating yourself for things you didn't do "correctly" in the past will only make you miserable in the future. And I need to take my own advice on that one

I just should have dealt with it differently. When she wanted to name it I didn't even know what to say at the time. I was just so...not there. I didn't want to face it. I didn't want it to be real, so I withdrew.
I didn't read the writing on the wall, or in my heart of hearts, because I didn't, couldn't let them be true. But I think I knew even then.

In 33 years of being married, my wife in I split up once for a couple days and that was how I felt. That was the only time we ever went to bed mad at each other. Never again after that.
That split up was all due to not talking to each other what was on our mines.  Never happen again.

I made it a point to never go to bed angry, to always make "l love you" the last thing I said when I left, no matter how angry or frustrated I was.

Oh we love when families do this. Just holidays we get tons of stuff. I'll be so good at home and then come to work and there is a cake and homemade tamales and tins of Danish cookies, cupcakes, candy, etc, etc and if I'm having a crazy night I'll just say F it and help myself.

It's also a nice change. When my husband would go to BP for meetings everyone brought doughnuts and kolaches, I told him bring a fruit tray and guaranteed everyone will love that he did it. They did.
