I have seen HW give praise from his hospital bed, but has Obama said anything about it yet? Haven't heard anything today Disclaimer: I have always thought he was the ultimate narcissist and he hasn't proven me wrong to this day

President Barack Obama on Thursday hailed the service to the nation of retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, who died Thursday at the age of 78. "With the passing of General Norman Schwarzkopf, we've lost an American original," he said in a statement. "From his decorated service in Vietnam to the historic liberation of Kuwait and his leadership of United States Central Command, General Schwarzkopf stood tall for the country and Army he loved. "Our prayers are with the Schwarzkopf family, who tonight can know that his legacy will endure in a nation that is more secure because of his patriotic service." He just proved you wrong.

He praised himself 63 times at Daniel Inouyes(sp) funeral last week.

If we'd have had the will to see it through it would have. Unfortunately, the Communists (and their sympathizers) that infested the US government, particularly the State Department, helped to sap the will of the US government to play hardball when it counted.

I am forced to believe that this was some kind of angle he was playing. No matter what he does, there is always something he is trying to get out of it. Could be a pat on the back. Could be some new contacts or a new buddy. I dunno, but

Thanks Gusto. I posted here a few weeks ago and mentioned you by name:

Since we don't know how the alternative would have worked out perhaps it was the best outcome. There is a lot of revisionism about how democratic Iran was, how much support Mossadegh had, could he have survived the Communist attempts to take over as a democracy, etc.

But don't you agree that the people of any nation should be able to decide what type of government they want without any outside interference?

I don't believe that's it's ever a good idea to overthrow governments unless that government is making mischief outside its borders (eg. Iraq in 1990) or commiting genocide inside its borders.

The Shah that was overthrown in 80 took over in the 40s.

Maybe I am just being naive but I would say that the US/Iran relationship was way better under the Shah than in any time since when they took our embassy hostage in 79. What do you recall that was so bad under the Shah?
