still stand by that statement, I worked in the largest trauma center in Atlanta and now the second largest Trauma center in FL. I've seen quite a few gunshots now and can say with reasonable certainty that if I presented most of you sportsmen with a gunshot wound from the 223 or a handgun and asked you to determine what it was that 95% or more of the time you'd get it right by simply looking at the entry and if available the exit wound.
correct.. you and they - having seen far more than the people referenced in newton...

I think he had close to double that capacity with a Glock, no? They were little kids. I think it could have been done with a revolver.

even at such short ranges such as in Newton? I disagree...Hopefully I will never see such trauma and need to make the distinction

is there a valid number out there on the number of shots fired?

So this is heading off a cliff and I'm not sure what were arguing about any longer. Suffice to say, it was an AR and if want to call Physician's/Surgeons/Medical Examiners/EMT's/Paramedics something other than experts in their field so be it...

I have more mags and total capacity on hand for my two semi auto low powered non military style shortbarrelled tools than I do for my repeating low powered long barrelled tools. it's a shame all of this energy and firepower.. nationwide isn't being used on mental heatlh services.. instead of gun control....

You're right. It holds 15 in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber

I know one... not gonna give you his name.. but I have hunted on his property - and he was a ME.. at age 65.. and as a physician prior to that had never seen a gunshot wound.. also.. in the area where he was ME.. in the time that he was.... the only gunshot wounds he saw were suicides...
So...You gave me a ME that has seen gunshot wounds. I'd assume most physicians have never seen a gunshot wound before unless they they saw them quickly in the ER or were trauma or Vascular surgeons. Medical examiners are not doctors that just one day woke up and decided that they wanted to do autopsies. It requires a 3 or 4 year pathology residency and then a 1 year forensic fellowship where a certain number of autopsies must be performed. Most good fellowships are in high crime areas so that the fellow is exposed to as many homicides as possible. In addition, any area is the country is going to have many suicides, which aren't really any different that homicides. People kill themselves with pistols, rifles, shotguns, pretty much whatever they have. Not everyone shoots themselves in the head either. Here's an article about gun violence that interviews the ME that worked the school shooting. He says that more guns cause more gun violence. LINK

Now he's a coroner? Big difference. Coroners are elected officials that cover much smaller areas and aren't required to be doctors or have any special training. They simply go to the scene and fill out the death certificate. Medical Examiners have years of training in autopsies and are required to be licensed as forensic pathologists. In a state like Louisiana, they would cover a much larger area than a coroner and would probably see more homicides in their one year fellowship than a coroner would see in buttfart parish during his whole time in office.

I would bet the ME in that area of CT would see less gun shot victims than 95% of the US...

I believe he was refering to someone different than the ME he was mentioning earlier. Might be wrong but what i gathered.

Read the article that I posted. He is the chief medical examiner for the state and in the month of May in 1991, the state had 29 firearm deaths, 17 of which were homicides. The author claims that the month was randomly selected, which I doubt, but its probably not that unusual.

Is this true? If so I would def go with the crime scene officials since the guy had the weapons on him and the casing were everywhere.
