Everything we have needs or has petroleum products. Whiny bitch liberals need to live in a straw hut, grown there own food, shite in a hole, use candles for power and wear potato sacks for cloths. Oh. And walk everywhere with leather sandles.

How about giving this a watch to get a more factual look at the natural gas industry and fracking. Gasland is a liberal fluff piece made by someone with an agenda. LINK

They drill in the harshest environments on earth on billion dollar platforms and rigs, refine it in billion dollar refiners transport it on tankers and rigs worth hundreds of millions, deliver it to a pump that is safe for pumping into your car. All while dealing with a clusterfrick of loons and regulations. Yet a gallon of gas cost less then a gallon of milk.

if the gas trapped below impermeable formations hasn't penetrated them in millions of years, what makes you think fracking fluid will?

I thought that was the coolest part of the show and wondered since it would ignite could you fill your car with it? If my pool was filled with that water would it kill algae better than chlorine? Think of how cool it would be when you turned on the sprinkler and lit it up think Bellagio with fire in your front yard

your link about T. Boone isn't on HBO - the same channel that airs Bill Maher. only HBO knows about fracking.

About 20. es, I am quite the consumer. And my hippie morals are flexible as far as poviding for my family. And I'll fall asleep tonight not worrying too much about fracking. Anyways, I thought the film was provacative. OP was a mini troll I guess.

Oh, if it can't penetrate a porous rock, it's probably penetrating the steel casing of the well.

The reverse is in play too. There are natural gas seeps that have been in existence for years that people are using as evidence against fracking operations.

I work in the industry and don't understand all of the complaints with fracturing. The biggest issue I see is that it can require a lot of freshwater for the jobs (possibly sapping local supplies temporarily). The concern about contaminating the drinking water from fracturing is not well-founded due to the mechanics of the cement and pipe blocking off the shallower zones. Really, there is a much greater risk of drinking water being contaminated by water disposal wells, which have been operating for many many decades. But there are some good regulations around the disposal wells too.

Well if it's seeping, you wouldn't need to frack that formation, would you?

People aren't lighting their tap water on fire due to fracking. The fractures occur several thousand feet below the drinking water aquifers. If the drinking water is truly being tainted by the E&P companies than it is occuring at the surface. There are plenty of laws on the books such as the Clean Water Act and RCRA to ensure this doesn't happen. If it is happening then it is due the lack of enforcement of current environmental laws and permits. Want to see this sluggish economy come to a screeching halt . . . outlaw fracking.

I saw my first frack job around 1990. Fracking didn't become an issue until companies moved into the Marcellus and all the libs back yards.
